About the Department:
Our Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team provides specialized, multidisciplinary care for patients primarily being treated for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The team works collaboratively to help patients navigate complex healthcare services, remove barriers to care, and coordinate access to treatment.
This Patient Navigator position has a strong Medical Assistant (MA) and specialty medication coordination focus. The role joins a dedicated team that includes an MA, LVN, and non-licensed Patient Navigator within the larger multidisciplinary IBD clinic.
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of support experience in a medical office, ambulatory care facility, or medical group practice.
- Three years of experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment, including handling confidential information with discretion.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association upon hire.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex and competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Preferred
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certified Registered Medical Assistant.
- California CPT1 Phlebotomy Certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Three years of experience with insurance contracts and payor requirements.
- Experience supporting medication authorizations, insurance navigation, or other complex healthcare coordination workflows.
