Nutrition Services Cook

Methodist Specialty Care Center is seeking an experienced Nutrition Services Cook to join our team. In this role, you will help provide nutritious, appealing, and high-quality meals for our residents, staff, and visitors.
As part of our Nutrition Services team, you will prepare breakfast and lunch meals, follow standardized recipes, assist with cafeteria service, and prepare therapeutic diets for residents with specialized nutritional needs.
What You'll Do
As a Nutrition Services Cook, you will:
- Prepare breakfast and lunch meals for residents, staff, and visitors
- Prepare and cook vegetables, meats, and other menu items according to established recipes
- Prepare and garnish food to ensure an appealing presentation
- Set up the cafeteria serving line with appropriate food pans and garnishes
- Prepare foods in advance for scheduled meal service
- Prepare therapeutic diets and meals for residents with special dietary needs
- Assist with the resident and cafeteria serving line as needed
- Monitor food and product levels for the following day's meal preparation
- Notify the Dietary Manager of shortages or items that need to be ordered
- Complete necessary advance preparation for the following day's meals
- Clean and sanitize cooking equipment and food preparation areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area
- Follow established food safety, sanitation, and dietary procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule
- Full-time
- 40 hours/week
- 4:30 am - 1:30 pm Weekdays, with Rotating Weekends
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of quantity food preparation experience in a healthcare environment
- Experience preparing meals according to standardized recipes
- Ability to prepare meals for individuals with specialized dietary needs
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and safety
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
This is an active position that requires:
- Frequent and prolonged standing
- Pulling carts and moving food service equipment
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work in a warm or hot kitchen environment
- Ability to work extended hours when needed to meet department needs
