Environmental Specialist Junior, HI TO647

This position is contingent upon contract award, customer approval, and the availability of funding. The final scope, responsibilities, work location, schedule, position requirements, and employment start date may change based on final contract requirements.

In this proposed entry-level position, you would support environmental program management, records transition, regulatory coordination, field inspections, hazard tracking, and environmental documentation at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

You would support the 647 CES environmental program and assist with transitioning environmental records, facility data, and compliance documentation from Navy systems to Air Force systems. Your work would contribute to environmental compliance, mission readiness, and long-term installation stewardship.

As an Environmental Specialist, you would:

- Support environmental program management, compliance reviews, reporting, and coordination with environmental program managers.
- Apply applicable federal, state, Department of Defense, and Air Force environmental requirements to identify risks, document issues, and support mitigation actions.
- Assist with transferring environmental permits, studies, compliance records, and related documentation from Navy databases to designated Air Force systems, including NexGen IT and SharePoint.
- Catalog and maintain accurate digital environmental records in accordance with applicable Air Force records-management standards.
- Support authorized coordination with regulators, mission partners, and community stakeholders.
- Assist with environmental permit applications, regulatory correspondence, inspections, and reviews.
- Conduct or support internal environmental inspections, sampling, hazard identification, and compliance monitoring.
- Assist with tracking asbestos-containing material, lead-based paint, waste streams, wildlife observations, and facility environmental conditions.
- Support environmental data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting.
- Prepare technical documentation, briefings, visual products, and meeting materials for environmental councils and cross-functional teams.
- Support environmental inputs for Activity Management Plans, DD Form 1391 packages, and other project-planning efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, or natural science from an accredited U.S. institution.
- The ability to successfully complete and maintain the required background investigation.
- The ability to obtain and maintain required credentials and access to Air Force systems.
- The ability to work on-site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
- The ability to comply with applicable environmental, safety, operations security, cybersecurity, network-use, and records-management requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

- A current U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
- Experience with environmental permitting or regulatory inspections.
- Familiarity with environmental sampling, inspection protocols, or compliance documentation.
- Experience working with environmental datasets or records-management systems.

Location and Schedule

This proposed position is expected to be performed on-site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

- The selected candidate must obtain and maintain the background investigation, credentials, installation access, and Air Force system access required by the final contract and customer.
- The selected candidate must comply with applicable environmental, safety, operations security, cybersecurity, network-use, and records-management policies.
