About the Role The Clearance Coordinator is part of the Clearance Coordination Center (CC) within Gas Control and plays a critical role in supporting gas transmission and distribution operations. This position is responsible for authorizing gas-related work through the planning, development, and implementation process while ensuring safe, efficient, and coordinated operations. The Clearance Coordinator helps maintain situational awareness of activities affecting gas assets, supports simultaneous work avoidance efforts, provides oversight to field resources, and coordinates with internal teams, contractors, and upstream pipeline providers. This role also assists with audit preparation, administrative activities, operational communication, and adherence to gas standards and operational requirements. This position requires the ability to evaluate information independently, analyze concurrent work activities and real-time system conditions, review and revise special instructions, and provide high-quality customer service while supporting performance measurement and reporting activities. Key Responsibilities

- Execute clearance requests by handling phone calls under both normal and emergency conditions.
- Review work requests and supporting records from company personnel and upstream suppliers to determine when maintenance, repair, or construction activities may begin.
- Prioritize, suspend, modify, or approve clearance requests based on system-wide situational awareness.
- Analyze and document work activities using clearance management and reporting tools such as j5, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar applications.
- Utilize data to support audit requests, simultaneous work avoidance (SWA) analysis, risk mitigation efforts, and compliance with established procedures.
- Review work activities for potential improvements and stop work when conditions are unsafe or workers are unprepared.
- Review, approve, and track system events.
- Communicate updates and necessary changes to internal and external stakeholders, including field personnel, Gas Control, and upstream suppliers.
- Independently evaluate and approve clearance requests and other assigned work.

Required Qualifications

- 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret technical plans, processes, and procedures.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform effectively during emergency and contingency situations.
- Ability to complete self-guided study and training as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

- 1+ years of experience in the gas utility industry or natural gas operations.
- Experience analyzing and working with data using software applications such as Excel, Access, SCADA, Synergi, j5, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions among multiple alternatives under pressure while communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of utility and/or industrial operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
