The Design Program Manager Design Change Administration oversees and streamlines the design bulletin system and manages building design changes across multiple projects. This role coordinates closely with architects, engineers, construction teams, and project managers to ensure design modifications are accurately documented, efficiently implemented, and fully aligned with project objectives and regulatory requirements. The position suits a proactive design professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balances design and business needs, and maintains high standards of organization while managing multiple concurrent design changes.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the design bulletin system, ensuring accurate tracking, documentation, and distribution of all design changes.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, construction teams, and project managers to facilitate timely and effective implementation of design changes.
- Create and maintain project schedules and timelines related to design modifications, ensuring alignment with overall project plans.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain comprehensive documentation for all design changes, including logs, records, and supporting materials.
- Lead design change review meetings, present proposed changes, and facilitate structured decision-making processes among stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and refine standardized processes and procedures for design change management across projects.
- Monitor project budgets and resource allocation associated with design modifications, and escalate risks or variances as needed.
- Generate regular status reports and updates for stakeholders, summarizing design changes, impacts, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure that all design changes comply with applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and process Requests for Information (RFIs) related to design issues, ensuring timely responses and clear documentation.
- Oversee the issuance of design bulletins and related communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and traceability.
- Maintain and manage design and project-related databases in a construction design environment, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design data management practices into broader project management workflows.
- Apply overarching project management principles to balance schedule, cost, quality, and risk in the context of design changes.
- Use project management and design software tools to plan, track, and report on design change activities.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in design or construction project management.
- Strong understanding of building design and construction processes, including how design changes impact construction activities.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and design change management in a construction or design environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple design changes and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong documentation skills, including precise record-keeping and clear written communication.
- Proficiency in project management and design software tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage RFIs, issue design bulletins, and maintain design-related databases.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in tracking, documenting, and communicating design changes.
- Strong reporting skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, and actionable status reports for stakeholders.
- Core project management skills, including planning, scheduling, risk awareness, and stakeholder communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360) or similar construction design platforms.
- Familiarity with Smartsheet or comparable project tracking and collaboration tools.
- Experience with construction design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and change documentation.
- Background in building design combined with strong project management and business-focused decision-making.
- Experience in design data management within construction or design projects.
- Ability to develop and refine standardized processes for design change administration.
- Comfort working with digital databases and structured data in a construction design context.
- Willingness and ability to learn new construction technology platforms if not already proficient.
Work Environment
This position operates in a virtual and remote work environment. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, construction professionals, and project managers through digital platforms and online communication tools. The role relies heavily on project management and design software, construction design documentation systems, and cloud-based collaboration tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360) and Smartsheet. Work is fast-paced and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on accurate digital record-keeping, structured online meetings, and consistent remote communication across distributed teams. Dress expectations are generally aligned with a professional remote setting, with more formal attire as needed for video meetings with key stakeholders.

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
