Inpatient Phlebotomist

Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist proficient in phlebotomy techniques and familiar with medical and laboratory terminology. This role requires one to two years of experience assisting in laboratory assays, preferably within an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills in English, strong typing and word processing abilities, and outstanding customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures on adults and pediatrics.
- Conduct micro collections on infants.
- Participate in data entry and specimen processing.
- Communicate with clients to resolve specimen concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, Assistant Director, or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques.
- Familiarity with medical and laboratory terminology.
- Ability to operate a computer input terminal.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current California CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certificate.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of one year of CPT experience in an inpatient, hospital setting.
Work Environment
The role is based in a fast-paced environment under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, Assistant Director, or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists. The position involves performing venipunctures, micro collections, data entry, and specimen processing. The work environment is close-knit, and the dress code requires scrubs. The position is full-time, with an AM shift from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, including rotating weekends. The EMR system used is Meditech, and LabCorp online is utilized for reference.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendora, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
