Senior Technical Project Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a technically strong Senior Technical
Project Manager to drive delivery of complex, technology-heavy projects for
our retail-focused client portfolio. This role is weighted toward technical
ownership and hands-on execution — the ideal candidate is someone who can
dig into code, architecture, and infrastructure decisions directly, not just
track status. Deep working knowledge of Python, .NET, and cloud platforms
(AWS/Azure/GCP) is essential, along with practical experience implementing
modern deployment strategies (CI/CD, blue-green, canary releases) and a solid
understanding of retail industry systems such as omnichannel commerce, POS,
supply chain, and customer engagement platforms.

The Senior Technical Project Manager will be hands-on in
reviewing architecture and code-level decisions, troubleshooting technical
blockers, validating deployment pipelines, and ensuring solutions are
technically sound — using project management skills as a means to keep
technical delivery on track, rather than as the core focus of the role.

Key Responsibilities

- Own
the technical delivery of projects end-to-end — from solution design
review through deployment — for retail client engagements.
- Get
hands-on with Python and .NET codebases where needed: reviewing
code quality, debugging issues, validating designs, and ensuring adherence
to engineering best practices.
- Evaluate
and make recommendations on cloud architecture across AWS, Azure,
and/or GCP — compute, storage, networking, managed services, and cost
optimization.
- Design,
implement, and troubleshoot deployment strategies and pipelines —
CI/CD (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), containerization
(Docker/Kubernetes), blue-green/canary releases, and
infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation/ARM).
- Perform
technical risk assessments and gap analyses on architecture, integrations,
and non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security).
- Translate
business and functional requirements into detailed technical
specifications and solution designs.
- Set up
and maintain project-level technical tracking (sprint boards, technical
backlogs) using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools, with a focus on
technical accuracy over administrative reporting.
- Serve
as the technical point of contact for client engineering counterparts,
resolving technical queries and unblocking implementation issues directly.
- Evaluate
and recommend appropriate cloud service offerings (IaaS, PaaS,
SaaS) based on technical fit, scalability, and cost — including
proof-of-concept work where needed.
- Embed
DevSecOps practices into the SDLC — security scanning, compliance checks,
and governance gates within CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply
retail domain knowledge to solution design for e-commerce platforms, POS
integration, inventory/order management, supply chain systems, and
customer data platforms.
- Contribute
technical estimations, architecture diagrams, and solution approaches for
proposals and pre-sales efforts.
- Evaluate
and pilot AI/automation tooling (agentic coding tools, LLM Ops, AI
guardrails) to improve engineering efficiency and delivery quality.
- Produce
and maintain technical documentation — architecture diagrams, deployment
runbooks, integration specs, and technical decision logs.
- Coordinate
lightweight project logistics (timelines, dependencies, status updates)
only to the extent needed to keep technical delivery unblocked — this is
not a resourcing/staff-management role.

Required Qualifications

Experience

- 12+
years of overall IT/engineering experience, with substantial hands-on time
writing, reviewing, or architecting Python and/or .NET applications.
- Strong,
current working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) —
including compute (EC2/App Services/Compute Engine), storage, networking,
serverless (Lambda/Azure Functions), and managed database services —
gained through direct implementation, not just oversight.
- Hands-on
experience designing and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines and deployment
strategies : Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI;
containerization (Docker, Kubernetes); blue-green/canary releases;
infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
- Prior
technical delivery experience within the retail domain —
e-commerce, POS, order management, supply chain, merchandising, or
customer loyalty platforms strongly preferred.
- Experience
integrating and evaluating different cloud service offerings (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) for fit, scalability, and cost.
- Working
knowledge of monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, New Relic,
CloudWatch, Grafana) and hands-on incident/troubleshooting experience.
- Practical
exposure to AI/ML-driven tooling or automation frameworks in SDLC
processes (e.g., agentic coding tools, LLM Ops, AI guardrails) is a strong
plus.
- Familiarity
with Agile/Scrum delivery is expected,

Skills

- Strong,
practical command of Python and/or .NET : able to read, review, and
reason about code, APIs, microservices, and integration patterns directly
rather than through a manager's summary.
- Solid
grasp of cloud architecture across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models,
with the ability to independently evaluate trade-offs and design options.
- Deep
understanding of software deployment and release management — rollback
strategies, zero-downtime deployments, and pipeline debugging.
- Strong
analytical and troubleshooting skills — comfortable digging into logs,
configs, and system behavior to diagnose root causes.
- Ability
to produce clear technical documentation (architecture diagrams, runbooks,
technical specs) independently.
- Working
knowledge of security and compliance considerations relevant to
retail/e-commerce (PCI-DSS, data privacy).
- Clear
technical communication skills for engaging with engineering teams and
client technical counterparts — this role is not focused on executive
stakeholder management or team leadership.

Education

- Bachelor's
degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a
related field.
- Relevant
certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, SAFe Agilist, AWS/Azure/GCP
certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are highly
desirable.
