The Senior Manager, Commodity Management – Instrument Manufacturing is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining and executing the global commodity strategies for instrument manufacturing within a leading medical device organization. This position ensures the cost-effective, compliant, and uninterrupted supply of critical components and sub-assemblies that support product development, manufacturing operations, and long-term business growth.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain teams, the role leads the development of a high-performing supplier network capable of meeting medical device quality, regulatory, and performance requirements. The Senior Manager of Commodity Management drives supplier innovation, risk mitigation, cost optimization, and sustainability initiatives while ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry regulations.

As a senior procurement leader, this individual is accountable for commodity strategy development, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, capacity planning, and supply continuity across key commodities such as metals, electronics, plastics, fluidics, optics, contract manufactured assemblies, packaging, and instrument manufacturing services. The role plays a critical part in supporting new product introductions, business continuity, and the company's commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality medical devices to healthcare professionals and patients worldwide.

Then come and join our global team as Senior Manager, Commodity Management , based at our facility in Swords, Ireland. The role will be responsible for the supply base for several manufacturing locations.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

· Lead and develop a high-performing team of commodity managers within a broader strategic procurement function, supporting several manufacturing locations.

· Develop and execute global commodity and sourcing strategies for instrument manufacturing categories – aligned with manufacturing strategies, across several sites.

· Build strategic supplier partnerships that drive quality, innovation, and cost competitiveness.

· Lead supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and performance management activities.

· Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and supply chain optimization initiatives.

· Manage supply risks, capacity constraints, and business continuity planning.

· Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle management activities.

· Build strong working relationships across a range of internal stakeholders including manufacturing operations, sourcing, R&D, quality and finance to deliver business results

Work Experience

· BS/BA in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing or a related discipline

· Advanced degree preferred (MBA, MSc, or equivalent)

· Strong understanding of medical device regulations and quality systems, including FDA QSR, ISO 13485, MDR, and supplier quality requirements.

· Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in Commodity Management, with people leadership experience

· Expertise in supply chain within a manufacturing environment essential, ideally within a medical device, life science or highly regulated manufacturing industry

· Experience supporting global manufacturing networks and multi-site operations

· Demonstrated success developing and executing global commodity strategies in related categories (metals, plastics, electronics, fluidics, optics, contract manufacturing)

· Knowledge of digital procurement tools, supplier performance platforms, and advanced analytics

· Extensive experience leading complex commercial negotiations involving multi-year contracts, strategic partnerships, and supplier development initiatives.

· You can build strong and influential business relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver business goals

· Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively at internal executive and supplier leadership levels.

· Strong financial and analytical acumen with experience managing significant spend portfolios.

· You are a seasoned negotiator capable of managing escalations and concluding agreements with suppliers on a range of topics

· You have a proven ability to drive initiatives to implementation in collaboration with cross-functional partners (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality)

· Strong risk management and business continuity planning capabilities.

This role requires a combination of strategic procurement expertise, strong commercial acumen, technical understanding of manufacturing processes, and proven leadership experience within a highly regulated medical device or life sciences environment. The successful candidate will bring a proven history of building resilient global supply networks, developing high-performing teams, and delivering sustainable business value in a complex, highly regulated environment.
