Arts Engagement Coordinator

Summary: Strong candidates will have experience curating exhibits, collaborating with faculty, managing labs, supplies and studio spaces, and working with community-based artists.

Responsibilities:

This position reinforces and expands public campus engagement in the arts. This person will work with the Arts Advisory Committee and all NCC campuses to help plan and manage initiatives around exhibitions, collections, fund-raising, improvement and identification of arts spaces, events of interest to our partners and to our students, and the summer Artist-in-Residence program. As the only 12-month employee in the art program, this person will support and collaborate in the curation of exhibitions in the key campus spaces. This person will also do the following: work with the Learning Commons to create a full catalog of the existing collection to explore the feasibility of creating a program to allow the check-out and rotation of art across campuses; involve students in the planning and creation of shows and art events across campus; create an exhibition schedule for the calendar year including related activities such as receptions and speaking events; coordinate with exhibiting artists to manage the promotion, installation and deinstallation of exhibitions; document exhibition installations; collaborate with Marketing and others to ensure photos are on the website and social media; work with Facilities to maintain gallery walls, floors and lighting. Together with faculty, deans, and others, this person will help to host visiting artists, guest lecturers, and curators. This position will also support Institutional Advancement and Marketing when there are events that promote the arts at NCC.

Qualifications:

Experience at a community college is highly desirable.

Educational Requirement : B. A. in Arts or Arts-related field.

All candidates for this position will be asked to do a teaching demonstration for the search committee.
