Employee Support/Social Services Representative
Reports to: Benefits Manager
Supervises: N/A
Summary Statement: The Employee Support/Social Services Representative works closely with the Benefits Manager as well as internal and external resources to assist employees address personal, financial, health related, and benefit related needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Build positive, trusting relationships with employees while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Educate employees on workplace benefits and programs, such as FMLA, ADA, core benefits, and employee resources.
- Assist employees with understanding and navigating SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare and other state and federal benefit programs.
- Participate in training and professional development, taking the initiative to expand knowledge of employee benefits, government programs, and community resources.
- Research and identify outside resources available for issues such as healthcare, housing, transportation, food, utilities, financial concerns, legal services, and tax assistance, referring employees to the appropriate source.
- Assist employees with challenges such as understanding correspondence, completing forms, organizing information, and identifying available resources.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives that support the Social Services and Employee Resources Department.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records following established procedures.
Marginal Job Functions
- Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
- Participate in training and meetings as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in social work, case management, or employee assistance, preferably in a nonprofit or human services setting is required.
- Knowledge of state and federal benefit programs (SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, FMLA, ADA) and community resources for housing, healthcare, and financial support is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who are blind, low vision, or have disabilities is preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
