As a Senior SAP Application Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and evolving ADTRAN’s global business application landscape. You will partner with business stakeholders across multiple regions and functions to optimize processes, drive continuous improvement, and deliver innovative SAP solutions that enable operational excellence.

This role combines deep SAP expertise with business process knowledge, global collaboration, and a strong focus on innovation. You will help shape the future of our application environment through automation, digital transformation initiatives, and the effective use of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Location: Huntsville, Alabama (USA)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, optimize, and enhance Adtran business applications, including SAP Customizing, ABAP/Fiori development, system integrations, and business process solutions.

• Provide and coordinate reliable global application support across multiple regions, business functions, and time zones, ensuring business continuity and timely issue resolution.

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, Sales, Procurement, and other functional areas to understand business requirements and priorities.

• Lead and support testing, validation, deployment, and user enablement activities for new solutions and application enhancements.

• Proactively identify improvement opportunities, define solution strategies, and lead implementation activities.

• Design scalable, efficient, and future-oriented solutions while considering end-to-end processes and cross-functional impacts.

• Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, process optimization, data quality enhancements, and improved user experiences.

• Evaluate, promote, and adopt emerging technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and industry best practices to maximize business value, productivity, and application effectiveness.

Additional Responsibilities

• Lead projects or workstreams as required.

• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure stable and reliable business operations.

• Analyze industry trends and benchmark best practices to support strategic application roadmaps.

• Foster effective collaboration across geographically distributed and multicultural teams.

• Ensure proper documentation, knowledge sharing, and compliance with established standards, governance models, and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 8+ years of hands-on SAP experience including SAP Customizing, ABAP development, and SAP Fiori/UI5.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a global and multicultural environment across different regions, functions, cultures, and time zones.

• Strong intercultural communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across global teams.

• Strong analytical, customer-focused, and results-oriented mindset.

• Excellent project management, process improvement, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

• Experience in documentation, knowledge management, and business process analysis.

• Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to improve productivity, process efficiency, solution quality, and business value.
