Job Description
Challenging missions require creative systems thinking. Space Protection Programs, a collection of challenging and innovative missions, is seeking a talented systems engineer to work alongside the Chief Systems Engineer within the Alpha portfolio. You will partner with the Chief System Engineer to straddle design and execution across programs in different lifecycle phases and ensure the systems team is prioritizing efforts in line with larger enterprise timelines. You will share responsibilities in managing talent and growing the team to support portfolio needs, while performing technical leadership duties.
As one of the technical voices of the program, you’ll be directly responsible for developing solutions for a critical, complex mission. This will include evaluating baseline changes for current and future variants against cost and schedule constraints. Mission success requires partnership across a large and intricate enterprise; you’ll advise team members who are working to design and integrate across new and developing interfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mentorship and team development - Grow leaders and mentor team members to cultivate the next generation of engineering talent.
* Technical Trade Studies & Risk Mitigation – Identify, prioritize, and conduct trades and feasibility studies for new capabilities, assess schedule/technical risk, and propose mitigation strategies that preserve schedule and technical requirement satisfaction
* Customer & Stakeholder Interface – Present technical status, trade results, and system-level performance status to customers and stakeholders, in forums both large and small
* Process and standards enforcement: responsible for ensuring that appropriate engineering processes, technical personnel, and design/analysis tools are applied and managed
Basic Qualifications
* Extensive experience in two or more of the following areas: system integration & test, system analysis, trade studies, requirements development, design, modeling and simulation, performance assessment, requirements verification.
* Participation in or close familiarity with engineering lifecycle design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
* Proven ability to resolve and drive complex technical issues and challenges to closure.
* Prior technical team lead or formal leadership experience.
* Current Top Secret clearance.
Desired Skills
* Experience as the review lead for a major milestone event.
* Risk management experience including identification, mitigation planning, and tracking.
* Experience delivering system engineering artifacts using MBSE.
* Prior responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical authority (e.g. CAM or IPT lead).
* Prior SAP access.
* History of customer-facing roles.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

* For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
