Position Overview:

Build the precision components that keep rail systems moving. As a Gear Technician, you will assemble, disassemble, and clean gear components; operate production equipment; and use drawings and established guidelines to deliver products that meet exact quality specifications. You will also collaborate with supervisors and engineers to troubleshoot production challenges and support safe, reliable operations.

Monday- Thursday 6:30am- 5:00pm

What your day-to-day will look like:

- Assemble and disassemble gearboxes by mounting housings and couplings, installing gears, bearings, spacers, covers, fasteners, and related components.
- Use hand and power tools to align, fit, fasten, drill, and tap parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and work orders to complete assembly activities accurately.
- Measure dimensions, tolerances, and clearances with precision instruments; inspect, test, and adjust units to meet quality and customer requirements.
- Mark identifying information, attach nameplates, clean work areas and parts, and maintain tool inventory.
- Partner with supervisors, engineers, and team members to review work, explain procedures, conduct 6S audits and safety walks, and improve processes and workflows.

To thrive in this role, you have:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their practical applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and accurately document, record, store, and maintain written or electronic information.
- Knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations, product standards, workmanship requirements, and assembly procedures.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of machines, power tools, and hand tools, including their operation, uses, repair, and operator-level maintenance.

Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
