Utility Inspector - Entry Level

Job Title: Utility Inspector Job Description The Utility Inspector plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of water mains and other utility infrastructure. This position focuses on field inspections, documentation of structural conditions, coordination of construction-related services, and adherence to regulatory standards. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects while working independently in the field with full training and support. Responsibilities

- Inspect water mains and other utility-related infrastructure to verify structural soundness, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Document inspection results in detail, including observed deterioration, structural conditions, discrepancies between design and construction execution, and any required sampling.
- Oversee and coordinate construction-related services on assigned projects, ensuring work aligns with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct on-site investigations and review relevant data such as maps, reports, tests, drawings, and other technical documentation as needed.
- Prepare and maintain technical files and other technical documentation in accordance with guidelines and regulations.
- Comply with all established inspection procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory standards while working in the field.
- Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to share findings, clarify requirements, and support project objectives.
- Use inspection-related tools, equipment, and digital reporting platforms to capture, record, and report inspection data accurately and on time.

- Technical aptitude and ability to work confidently with inspection-related tools and equipment in the field.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing daily field activities and tasks.
- Basic proficiency with tablets, mobile applications, or reporting software for data entry and documentation.
- Comfort interacting in a client-facing capacity, including conducting site visits and discussing findings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Field inspection experience or strong interest in inspection work, particularly related to utilities or infrastructure.

Work Environment This is a field-based role with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The position operates fully remote from the field, with the Utility Inspector working independently at various sites rather than in a central office. Team members use their personal vehicles for travel to inspection locations and receive mileage reimbursement at a generous rate aligned with current guidelines. The role involves regular use of inspection tools, equipment, tablets, and mobile applications or reporting software to capture and submit data. Training is provided for all necessary tools, technologies, and procedures. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
