Job Title: Junior Electrical Engineer Job Description This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and supporting complex electrical systems for critical facilities and launch infrastructure. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop detailed electrical designs, technical specifications, and installation packages for power distribution, control systems, and mission-critical backup systems. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop detailed electrical designs, technical specifications, and installation packages for facility electrical systems.
- Design and support medium- and low-voltage power distribution networks for critical infrastructure.
- Develop designs for switchgear assemblies and motor control centers (MCCs), ensuring safe and reliable operation.
- Design interior, exterior, and site lighting systems that meet performance, safety, and code requirements.
- Develop and support ground support equipment control systems, including PLC and ladder logic programming.
- Design, specify, and support Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for critical loads.
- Support the design and integration of primary and backup generator installations, including associated controls and interfaces.
- Design and integrate automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems to ensure reliable power source transitions.
- Implement and support electrical power monitoring and data acquisition platforms to track system performance and reliability.
- Design facility grounding and lightning protection systems that comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Provide technical support for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing existing electrical infrastructure, including power distribution equipment, switchgear, and control systems.
- Perform electrical load studies and power flow analysis to ensure systems meet capacity and performance requirements.
- Select, assess, and perform lifecycle evaluations of electrical equipment to support reliable long-term operation.
- Design grounding and bonding systems for buildings and facilities to ensure electrical safety and system integrity.
- Integrate and oversee power monitoring hardware and software solutions to improve visibility and control of electrical systems.
- Verify compatibility and proper integration of electrical systems with mechanical, controls, and facility infrastructure.
- Ensure electrical systems adhere to established power capacity requirements and operational constraints.
- Coordinate electrical construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities with utility personnel and facility stakeholders.
- Support uninterrupted facility operations by aligning electrical work with site requirements and schedules.
- Review electrical designs, drawings, and installations to ensure conformity with industry standards, safety regulations, and governing electrical codes.
- Conduct code compliance assessments and technical reviews using NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E, and other relevant electrical safety standards.
- Apply knowledge of arc flash analysis and protective coordination to improve system safety and reliability.
- Support continuous improvement of electrical systems by identifying opportunities to enhance performance, safety, and maintainability.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or another engineering discipline.
- 1+ years of professional experience in the design, build, or commissioning of electrical systems (internship experience qualifies).
- Hands-on experience with medium-voltage power distribution systems.
- Proficiency in designing and working with switchgear assemblies.
- Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.
- Experience with generator systems, including primary and backup configurations.
- Experience with motor control centers (MCCs).
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems for facilities and critical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of arc flash analysis and associated safety practices.
- Experience with protective coordination of electrical systems.
- Familiarity with Modbus communication protocols for monitoring and control.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Ability to perform electrical load studies and power flow analysis.
- Knowledge of grounding and bonding system design for buildings and facilities.
- Ability to interpret and apply NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70E.
- Experience reviewing electrical designs, drawings, and installations for code compliance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize existing electrical infrastructure, including power distribution and control systems.

Work Environment This role is based at facilities located on or near launch pads and other mission-critical sites. You will work in a highly technical environment that includes medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, ATS systems, and power monitoring platforms. The work environment emphasizes hands-on involvement with design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities in and around operational infrastructure. You can expect to collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, construction professionals, and utility personnel in a fast-paced setting where projects move quickly from design to implementation and where the results of your work are visible in active launch and facility operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cocoa, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
