What Youll Be Doing
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees accurately and on time.
- Review and reconcile payroll information, including overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, deductions, and pay adjustments .
- Audit timekeeping records and investigate discrepancies involving hours, rates, differential pay, and other earnings.
- Ensure payroll practices meet company policies and applicable wage and hour requirements.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies while responding to employee and management questions.
- Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, tax and deduction reviews, and payroll accounting activities.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and other internal teams to meet payroll deadlines.
- Use payroll and timekeeping systems along with Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Provide additional payroll team coverage during this high-volume contract period.
- Support payroll projects and process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
What Were Looking For
- Proven payroll processing experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment .
- Strong working knowledge of payroll procedures, compliance, and wage and hour practices.
- Experience calculating overtime, shift differentials, and other complex pay elements .
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with sensitive payroll information.
- Ability to independently prioritize work and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience researching and correcting payroll discrepancies.
- Experience with timekeeping/time and attendance systems such as Kronos .
- Experience with payroll platforms such as Kronos, UKG or Ultipro.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel , including formulas and pivot tables.
- Strong communication and customer service skills when working with employees and internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with payroll taxes, deductions, payroll accounting, audits, and reconciliations.
Additional Experience That Will Help You Stand Out
- Payroll experience supporting multiple shifts and varying pay rates .
- Experience working with complex timekeeping and attendance data.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Kronos, PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle .
- Payroll reporting and data analysis experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exposure to HR processes involving payroll, timekeeping, and employee data.
- Experience with payroll tax processing and payroll accounting.
Work Schedule & Environment
This is a part-time contract position supporting the payroll team during a high-volume period. Schedule:
- Monday: Required
- Tuesday: Required
- Wednesday OR Thursday : One Day Required
- Friday: 4 hours
- Start times: Flexible within agreed-upon parameters
Youll work in a professional office or hybrid environment using payroll systems, time and attendance technology, and Microsoft Excel. The team is highly focused on accuracy, confidentiality, compliance, and meeting payroll deadlines .

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Modesto, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
