Roles and Responsibilities

Join Syensqo's Materials and Testing laboratory as a Laboratory Technician during an exciting period of growth. The team generates reliable test data to support aerospace customer qualifications, product re-sites, problem resolution and product development. You will fabricate composite and adhesive panels, machine test specimens and carry out mechanical testing in line with international and customer standards. Full training is available for candidates who are new to the field, and applicants with relevant laboratory, manufacturing or testing experience are also encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

- Demonstrate and promote a strong safety culture in all laboratory activities.

- Fabricate composite and adhesive panels and prepare specimens using appropriate machining equipment.

- Carry out destructive mechanical testing across a broad range of composite and adhesive specimen types.

- Follow applicable international standards, customer specifications and internal procedures.

- Maintain accurate, traceable records and project documentation to an externally auditable standard.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and suppliers to support business priorities.

- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and care for the laboratory working environment.

Experience and Skills

- Five GCSEs/O Levels, or A levels in relevant subjects.

- Three or more years' experience in an industrial or technology environment.

- Practical experience of operating machining equipment.

- The ability to read and understand technical English, including customer specifications and related documentation.

- Computer literacy, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

- Experience of working effectively as part of a team.

- An HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant science, engineering or technical field.

- Experience of composite panel fabrication or universal test machines such as MTS, Instron or Zwick, including associated data-acquisition software.

- Knowledge of composite materials across a range of matrix and reinforcement technologies.

- Working knowledge of a laboratory information management system, ideally LabWare LIMS.

What We Offer

- The UK annual base salary reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is £27,000 - £35,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualification and internal equity and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range .

- Onsite position

- The role works a two-shift pattern, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime may be required to meet business needs.
