What if you could work on something that you can’t test… but cannot afford to fail? AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
As a Senior Planner your main responsibilities would be:
- Delivering Project Controls Planning and EVM expertise and analysis for projects, to produce accurate and timely schedule forecast information to enable business decision-making.
- Undertaking Earned Value (EV) variance analysis and monitor Schedule Performance Index (SPI), providing insight into schedule performance, trends and corrective actions.
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of the end-to-end Planning processes and the production and maintenance of associated policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Supporting the delivery of Planning tools and EVMS, templates and training to internal customers.
- Reviewing project WBS and agreeing / recommending changes to the Project’s Control Manager.
- The provision of Planning resource for peer reviews as appropriate.
You’ll:
- Have strong Primavera P6 planning expertise, with a proven track record of developing, maintaining and analysing complex project schedules.
- Be a proactive planning professional who can lead and champion best practice planning across project teams, driving schedule maturity and stakeholder engagement.
- Be a confident facilitator able to lead planning meetings, workshops and schedule reviews, promoting the value and benefits of effective programme controls.
- Possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Scientists and senior stakeholders.
- Have strong understanding of planning fundamentals, including logic linking, baselining, progress monitoring, schedule assurance and Critical Path Analysis (CPA).
- Possess experience providing schedule insight, performance reporting and planning recommendations to support successful project delivery.
