JOB SUMMARY: The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is seeking an energetic, organized, and customer-focused Athletics Coordinator to assist in the planning, coordination, and daily operations of our growing athletic programs and helping manage the H-F Sports Complex. Working alongside the Irwin Manager, the Athletics Coordinator will play an essential role in organizing youth and adult sports leagues, supervising games, supporting coaches and officials, and ensuring participants have a positive recreational experience. The H-F Park Districts mission statement is to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment.
This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in athletic administration while helping expand one of the Park District's fastest-growing program areas. The Athletics Coordinator will work both in the office and in the field at various parks, schools, and athletic facilities throughout the community.
This position works a fluctuating schedule based on program, league, and facility needs averaging up to 19 hours a week over the course of the calendar year.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and evaluating youth and adult athletic programs and leagues.
- Serve as the on-site supervisor for youth and adult athletic leagues, Open Gym sessions, tournaments, and special events, ensuring safe operations and a positive participant experience.
- Assist in coordinating league schedules, game changes, weather cancellations, and playoff brackets.
- Assist in communication with coaches, participants, parents, officials, and volunteers regarding league information.
- Assist in the preparation of athletic facilities by lining fields and setting up and taking down equipment before and after games.
- Monitor games to ensure participant safety, sportsmanship, and adherence to Park District policies.
- Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising volunteer coaches and part-time staff.
- Maintain athletic equipment and inventory.
- Assist with registration, roster management, scheduling, and league records.
- Assist in the development of new athletic programs and provide recommendations to improve existing offerings.
- Support athletic clinics, programs, camps, tournaments, and community events throughout the year.
- Assist with the daily operations of the Homewood-Flossmoor H-F Sports Complex, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patrons.
- Support scheduling and coordination of programs, rentals, athletic leagues, and special events within the H-F Sports Complex.
- Attend department meetings, trainings, and special Park District events.
- Ensure all Park District safety policies and risk management procedures are followed.
- Assist in marketing and promoting athletic programs and leagues.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with children
- Experience using Microsoft programming such as Office, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must possess valid drivers license
- Reliable transportation
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or the willingness to become certified
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- College coursework in Parks & Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working in youth or adult athletics, recreation, coaching, officiating, or event management preferred.
- Knowledge of one or more sports such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, lacrosse, or dance.
