About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operations Performance Leader located in Hayward, CA !  In this role, you will share responsibility and accountability for plant personnel, assets, and achievement of the plant related site, business, and corporate goals.  You will lead the plant Operations Team, which includes approx. 25 production, logistics, and warehouse personnel.

You will participate on the Hayward Site Leadership Team, serve as the primary back-up to the Production Leader, and will have accountability for the safe and reliable operation of the facility in his/her absence.   As a leader, you will cultivate a team culture that emphasizes safety, and maintains a high level of discipline, integrity, and customer focus.

Responsibilities

- Develop strong understanding of plant operating expectations, including Dow’s Life Critical Standards.  Maintain strong field presence, and provide regular coaching and feedback to Operations personnel to help continuously improve Operating Discipline.
- Develop skills and capabilities of the operations team, by supporting ongoing training / coaching / and skills qualifications.
- Oversee operator hiring / qualifications / staffing complement to ensure zero staffing-related unit downtime.
- Serve as member of union negotiation team,  Work with Dow HR, Labor Relations, and Union leadership to navigate disputes and ensure ongoing competitiveness and operational excellence of the site.
- Serve as interim Production Leader and Site Emergency Manager (SEM) on occasion.  Complete New Leader qualifications and other FWGL-delegate approvals in the absence of the Production Leader.
- Lead Root Cause Investigations for unplanned events.  Ensure effective solutions are implemented to deliver safer, more reliable, and competitive operations.
- May oversee plant budget, perform monthly expense forecasting, and manage major expenditures to stay within spending targets.
- Partner with the Production leader to drive ongoing progress toward the strategic goals for the site.
- Support Production Leader to provide motivation, explanation, context, and communication purpose of messages to the empowered organization.
- Develop operations employees and ensure career success via goal-setting, performance management, and employee development plans.
- Know the business model and strategy for facility.  Explain to operations how the plant fits into the business and corporation.

Qualifications

- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience.
- ​A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
