Job Title: Insurance Coordinator Job Description The Insurance Coordinator supports patients in kidney care clinics during the open enrollment period by providing clear, bilingual (English and Spanish) education and assistance with health insurance options. This non-clinical, field-based role focuses on guiding patients through Medicare Advantage plan reviews and health insurance exchange premium support, ensuring they understand their choices and complete necessary paperwork accurately. The position requires frequent direct interaction with patients, coordination with independent insurance brokers, and diligent documentation of all patient engagement activities. Responsibilities

- Meet with identified patients in kidney care clinics during their treatment window to provide insurance education and support in English and Spanish.
- Review Medicare Advantage insurance plan options with patients using education handouts and explain key concepts in a clear and understandable way.
- Facilitate connections between patients and independent insurance brokers to support insurance plan enrollment.
- Assist patients with health insurance exchange-related paperwork, including eligibility forms and premium support documents, ensuring accurate and complete information.
- Provide administrative support related to insurance coordination tasks, including data entry, documentation, and record maintenance.
- Organize, manage, and maintain patient paperwork and files to ensure information is easily accessible and properly documented.
- Capture detailed, effective notes on patient interactions and engagement activities in the appropriate systems or logs.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, answering questions and addressing concerns related to health insurance in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Participate in daily virtual huddles with the supervisor and team to review progress, share updates, and align on daily priorities.
- Provide daily reporting on patient contacts, including the number of patients engaged and outcomes of those interactions.
- Collaborate with clinic staff to coordinate patient meetings and ensure minimal disruption to clinical care.
- Travel between multiple kidney care clinic locations within the assigned geographic area to meet with patients on-site.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite and other administrative tools to support documentation, reporting, and communication needs.

Essential Skills

- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate clearly and comfortably in both languages.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage empathetically and professionally with patients in a healthcare clinic setting.
- Experience with data entry and administrative support, including organizing paperwork and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to travel between different kidney care clinics within an assigned geographic area.
- Comfort interacting directly with patients in a non-clinical healthcare environment.
- Ability to capture effective notes and thoroughly document patient engagement activities.
- Capability to participate in daily virtual huddles and provide consistent, accurate patient contact reporting.
- Basic understanding of health insurance concepts, including Medicare Advantage and health insurance exchanges (preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple patient interactions and paperwork.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Prior experience in insurance coordination, insurance verification, or healthcare administration is beneficial.
- Experience in customer service within a healthcare or insurance setting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with kidney care clinic workflows and patient support processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining strong collaboration with clinic staff and virtual team members.
- Comfort using virtual communication tools for daily team huddles and reporting.
- Adaptability to a temporary contracted role with potential extension or transition into a full-time Insurance Coordinator position.

Work Environment This is a non-clinical, field-based role working primarily on-site in kidney care clinics. The engagement is structured as a temporary contract of approximately 6090 days, focused on the open enrollment period from mid-October through mid-December, with potential extension into 2027 and the possibility of transitioning into a full-time Insurance Coordinator role. You will follow traditional business hours, providing a predictable daytime schedule. The position involves traveling between multiple clinic locations within a designated geography, including areas such as Austin, North Houston, West Texas, San Antonio, The Valley, and Laredo in Texas. The work environment includes frequent face-to-face interaction with patients, close collaboration with clinic staff, and daily virtual huddles with your team. Professional attire appropriate for a healthcare clinic setting is expected.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
