Job Title: Insurance Coordinator Job Description
The Insurance Coordinator provides bilingual patient support during the open enrollment period, meeting with patients in kidney care clinics to explain insurance options, assist with paperwork, and facilitate connections to enrollment resources. This non-clinical, field-based role focuses on helping patients understand Medicare Advantage plan options and health insurance exchange requirements, while ensuring accurate documentation of all patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Meet with identified patients during their treatment window in kidney care clinics to provide education and support in either English or Spanish.
- Review Medicare Advantage insurance plan options with patients using provided educational handouts.
- Facilitate connections between patients and independent insurance brokers to support the enrollment process.
- Support patients with health insurance exchange eligibility paperwork, including reviewing forms and assisting with document completion.
- Perform administrative tasks related to insurance coordination that are non-complex but require direct, in-person interaction with patients.
- Organize, manage, and maintain patient paperwork and documentation in an orderly and accurate manner.
- Capture clear, effective notes to log patient engagement activities and outcomes in appropriate systems or trackers.
- Participate in daily virtual huddles with the supervisor and team to review priorities, share updates, and coordinate patient support activities.
- Provide daily reporting on patient contacts, including results and follow-up needs.
- Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure smooth patient interactions and alignment with clinic workflows.
- Travel between different kidney care clinics within an assigned geographic area to meet scheduled patient support needs.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other administrative tools to support data entry, reporting, and documentation.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate clearly and comfortably with patients in either language.
- Strong customer service skills, with a patient-centered approach and the ability to build rapport in a healthcare clinic setting.
- Experience with data entry and administrative support, including accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions.
- Ability to organize paperwork effectively and maintain detailed notes on patient engagement activities.
- Comfort interacting directly with patients in a healthcare clinic environment, including face-to-face conversations during treatment windows.
- Ability to travel between different clinics within an assigned geography on a regular basis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to participate reliably in daily virtual huddles and provide consistent daily patient contact reporting and results.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Basic understanding of health insurance concepts, including Medicare Advantage and health insurance exchanges, is preferred.
- Prior experience in insurance coordination, insurance verification, or related administrative support roles is beneficial.
- Experience working in or supporting healthcare or kidney care clinic environments is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in handling patient documentation and eligibility paperwork.
- Ability to work independently across multiple locations while maintaining effective communication with the team.
Work Environment
This is a non-clinical, field-based position working primarily in kidney care clinics. The role is structured as a temporary contracted engagement of approximately 6090 days, focused on the open enrollment period from mid-October through mid-December, with potential extension into 2027 and the possibility of transitioning into a full-time Insurance Coordinator role. You will work traditional business hours, offering a predictable daytime schedule. The position requires on-site work across multiple clinic locations within a designated geography, including areas such as Austin, North Houston, West Texas, San Antonio, The Valley, and Laredo in Texas. The work environment involves frequent face-to-face interaction with patients, close collaboration with clinic staff, and daily virtual huddles with your team. Professional attire appropriate for a healthcare clinic setting is expected.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
