Engine Workshop Technician

Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Engine Workshop Technician to join our Distribution business in (Houston, TX).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

- Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

- Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

- Maintain own tools

- Perform engine disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing in accordance with Cummins service procedures and quality standards.
- Utilize QuickServe, service documentation, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and validate repairs.
- Verify completed repairs through operational testing and inspection procedures.
- Accurately document repair findings, parts requirements, labor operations, and service recommendations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, turnaround time, and productivity.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tooling, and shop equipment in accordance with 5S principles.
- Assist in training and mentoring Level 1 technicians and apprentices by providing technical guidance and support.
- Identify and communicate additional repair opportunities, warranty concerns, and potential product issues to leadership.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Support inventory control efforts by properly managing parts, cores, and reusable components during repair activities.
- Participate in root cause analysis activities to improve repair quality and reduce repeat failures.
- Support overtime, weekend work, and emergency customer requirements as business needs dictate.
- Operate overhead cranes, lifting devices, forklifts, and specialized equipment in a safe and compliant manner.
- Complete required technical training and maintain certifications necessary for assigned work.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by workshop leadership.

- Serve as a technical resource for Level 1 technicians on standard engine rebuild and repair procedures.
- Lead portions of complex repair activities under the guidance of senior technicians or workshop leadership.
- Review repair documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to job closure.
- Assist supervisors in identifying workflow improvements that increase labor efficiency and reduce rework.
- Support quality audits and contribute to achieving shop productivity and customer satisfaction goals.

- This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

- A current valid license is required for this role
- Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
