About this role

Position Summary
The Quality Improvement Coach supports early childhood educators and programs participating
in Great Start to Quality through individualized, relationship-based coaching designed to
strengthen effective teaching practices, including early literacy, and support continuous quality
improvement.
As a Licensed-Exempt Provider Pre-Service Training (LEPPT) Trainer & Coach, this position
may also provide statewide training and coaching to License-Exempt Providers.

Essential Responsibilities
-Support early childhood programs and educators in understanding and navigating the
Great Start to Quality quality improvement process.
-Provide individualized Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) using shared goals and action
planning, focused observation, and reflection and feedback.
-Build trusting, respectful, strengths-based relationships with educators and program
leaders.
-Help educators identify strengths, establish goals, implement effective teaching practices,
and monitor progress.
-Support early literacy, developmental screening, and other quality improvement practices
and resources.
-Provide coaching through in-person visits, virtual meetings, and other responsive
communication methods.
-Maintain accurate documentation of coaching activities, goals, observations, progress,
and outcomes using required systems, including MiRegistry.
-Collaborate with Resource Center staff, ECIC, MiLEAP, licensing, early childhood
mental health, GSRP, Head Start, workforce partners, and other community partners.
-Participate in required professional learning, mentor coaching, Communities of Practice,
peer learning opportunities, and statewide initiatives.
-Travel throughout the assigned Resource Center region and work within early childhood
program settings.
-Maintain confidentiality and protect the accuracy and security of program, educator,
child, and family information.
-Contribute to continuous quality improvement of Great Start to Quality coaching and
quality improvement services.

Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, education, or a
related field.

-Three to five years of relevant experience in early childhood education, coaching,
consultation, professional learning, program quality improvement, program
administration, or a related area.
-Knowledge of early childhood development, developmentally appropriate practices,
effective teaching practices, and continuous quality improvement.
-Knowledge of or experience with early literacy, CLASS, developmental screening,
observation-based quality improvement, or related initiatives.
-Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with educators, program leaders,
and early childhood professionals.
-Ability to use reflective, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and relationship-based
approaches when working with adult learners.
-Strong communication, organization, documentation, and technology skills.
-Ability to travel throughout the assigned Resource Center region and participate in
required regional and statewide professional learning.
