About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer to support mechanical assembly readiness, process development, tooling and fixture design, work instruction quality, and continuous improvement within an advanced manufacturing environment.

This role serves as a key connection between engineering design and production, helping ensure manufacturing teams have the right processes, tools, fixtures, documentation, and technical support to build products safely, efficiently, and consistently.

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will work closely with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to improve manufacturability, strengthen assembly processes, support new product introduction, and solve day-to-day manufacturing challenges.

This position is a strong fit for someone with experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, mechanical assembly, semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, medical devices, or other complex technical products .

What Youll Do

Manufacturing Process Development & Build Readiness

- Review engineering drawings, bills of materials, assembly sequences, and manufacturing documentation for production readiness.

- Identify tooling, fixturing, equipment, and process requirements needed to support successful builds.

- Proactively identify manufacturing risks, process gaps, and potential production constraints before they impact schedules.

- Develop and improve assembly processes that support safe, repeatable, and efficient manufacturing.

- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including readiness reviews, process development, and production build support.

- Help transition new or updated designs from Engineering into manufacturing.

Tooling, Fixtures & Mechanical Design

- Design and improve fixtures, jigs, assembly aids, and tooling that support manufacturing efficiency, quality, and repeatability.

- Create and modify CAD models, drawings, and supporting documentation for manufacturing and test needs.

- Evaluate existing tooling and fixtures and recommend improvements as production requirements change.

- Apply mechanical design principles to improve assembly flow, accessibility, and process capability.

Work Instructions & Manufacturing Documentation

- Develop and maintain clear, detailed work instructions, travelers, visual aids, and assembly documentation .

- Update documentation as engineering changes, process improvements, and production lessons are identified.

- Improve documentation quality to reduce reliance on undocumented tribal knowledge.

- Standardize manufacturing processes to improve consistency across builds and operators.

Production Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work directly with production technicians and manufacturing teams to understand build challenges and resolve process issues.

- Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to Engineering.

- Identify assembly risks, process constraints, and opportunities to simplify or improve manufacturing.

- Partner with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to support successful builds.

- Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and manufacturing process updates.

- Help resolve production issues related to tooling, documentation, assembly sequence, quality, and process execution.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

- Use structured problem-solving methods to address manufacturing and process issues.

- Analyze production, defect, and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

- Support root cause analysis and corrective action for quality issues, process failures, manufacturing escapes, and production disruptions.

- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, 5S/6S, PDCA, standard work, and related methodologies .

- Improve throughput, quality, efficiency, repeatability, and overall manufacturing performance.

Quality, Safety & Process Control

- Evaluate manufacturing processes for safety, ergonomics, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

- Identify and address risks before they become larger production or quality issues.

- Support process validation, qualification, and manufacturing documentation reviews.

- Ensure manufacturing processes align with quality standards, safety requirements, and established procedures.

- Escalate documentation gaps, manufacturing constraints, quality concerns, and schedule risks with recommended corrective actions.

What Were Looking For

- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field , plus at least 2 years of relevant experience; advanced degree; or equivalent relevant work experience.

- Experience supporting manufacturing processes, mechanical assemblies, or complex technical products.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.

- Experience developing or improving manufacturing processes and work instructions.

- Hands-on understanding of tooling, fixtures, jigs, and assembly methods.

- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing or production issues.

- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position in Boulder, Colorado is $83,000–$110,250 per year , depending on experience, technical skills, education, and qualifications.
