The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity fora Full Time Medical Technologist 2 to work in the Uhealth Campus.

Core Summary

The incumbent will provide bone marrow / stem cell processing, cell counts, inventory control, record keeping, and issuing of cellular therapy products for infusion.  The position will perform routine and non-routine testing, blood component preparation, quality control, inventory control, equipment QC, manual and computer documentation as part of daily job function.  He/She will work closely with the laboratory supervisor to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local licensure regulations.

Core Responsibilities

- Verifies identification of specimen with physicians’ orders, prepares specimens for testing, and handles all specimens in a safe and careful manner.
- Analyzes results of testing and interprets abnormal or unusual results.
- Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes appropriate corrective action while supporting laboratory co-workers in resolution of similar problems.
- Administers quality-control tests, according to procedure, and maintains appropriate data recording.
- Assists with orienting and training employees on laboratory techniques and operations.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Process cellular therapy products for the intent of infusion to patients.
- Process blood samples and perform basic tests and laboratory procedures.  Calculate final cellular characteristics of cellular therapy products.
- Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results.
- Utilize sterile technique for the collection, processing, storing, and distributing of cellular therapy products.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedural steps performed to ensure conformity to specification.
- Deliver test results to laboratory manager / laboratory director, physicians, or research personnel.
- Transport cellular therapy products between clinical site and CTL.
- Receive cellular therapy products from external donor sites.
- Maintains professional behavior.
- Train other staff as requested by manager or director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS        
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (preferred)
Maintain State of Florida Medical Technologist license 
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered
