Position Summary
The Training & Development Content Creator is responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining high-quality training content that supports Hays Electrical Services’ workforce development, operational standards, safety expectations, leadership development, and career progression. This position translates technical knowledge, company standards, and subject matter expertise into clear, engaging, and measurable learning experiences for field employees, leaders, corporate employees, and other Hays team members.
The Content Creator will work closely with Training & Development leadership, subject matter experts, operations, safety, recruiting, and other internal stakeholders to identify training needs and produce content for instructor-led training, digital learning, LMS courses, videos, job aids, assessments, presentations, and other learning resources. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and creative problem solver who can take complex information and turn it into practical training that employees can understand, apply, and retain.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, edit, and maintain training content, including lesson plans, facilitator guides, learner guides, presentations, job aids, assessments, videos, digital courses, and other instructional materials.
- Translate technical, operational, safety, leadership, and company-specific information into clear, practical, and engaging learning content.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, electricians, field leaders, operations, safety, recruiting, and Training & Development leadership to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with Hays standards.
- Create learning objectives, course outcomes, and training activities that align with business priorities, job expectations, career progression, and workforce development goals.
- Develop content for instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced learning programs.
- Create and maintain content for the Learning Management System (LMS), including courses, modules, quizzes, assessments, learning paths, and supporting resources.
- Develop multimedia training content, including instructional videos, screen recordings, presentations, graphics, demonstrations, and other digital learning assets.
- Support the development of standardized training programs for field positions, including helper, apprentice, electrician, foreman, superintendent, project management, and leadership roles.
- Develop assessments, knowledge checks, practical evaluations, and other tools used to measure learner understanding and training effectiveness.
- Work with Training & Development leadership to identify gaps in existing training and recommend new or revised content.
- Review training materials for accuracy, clarity, consistency, accessibility, grammar, and alignment with Hays standards and terminology.
- Maintain organized content libraries, templates, documentation, and version control to ensure training materials remain current and consistent.
- Collect and incorporate feedback from learners, instructors, leaders, and subject matter experts to continuously improve training content.
- Use learner performance, assessment results, completion data, and other available metrics to evaluate content effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development of onboarding, skills development, career progression, leadership development, and continuing education programs.
- Ensure training content reflects current company policies, procedures, safety requirements, industry practices, and applicable standards.
- Stay current with instructional design, adult learning, digital learning, multimedia development, and Training & Development best practices.
- Assist with special projects and other Training & Development initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, English, Human Resources, Training & Development, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, training content creation, technical writing, corporate training, or a related field.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to organize complex information and convert it into clear, practical learning content.
- Experience developing training materials, assessments, presentations, or instructional resources.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical subject matter experts and employees at all levels of an organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing training content for electrical, construction, skilled trades, manufacturing, industrial, or other technical workforces.
- Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Experience with Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar content-development tools.
- Experience creating instructional videos, demonstrations, screen recordings, graphics, or other multimedia learning assets.
- Experience developing competency-based training, skills assessments, career-path programs, or workforce development programs.
- Corporate training or field-training experience.
- Experience working directly with subject matter experts to develop technical training.
- Relevant certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning, or Training & Development.

Success in This Role
Success in this position will be demonstrated by the ability to consistently produce accurate, engaging, and practical training content that can be effectively delivered across Hays Electrical Services. The Training & Development Content Creator should help create a consistent learning experience, strengthen employee development, support career progression, and ensure that training content reflects the standards and expectations of Hays.
Work Environment
This position works in a collaborative Training & Development environment and will interact with employees and leaders across the organization. The role may require occasional travel to Hays offices, training facilities, jobsites, recruiting events, or other locations to observe work processes, gather subject matter expertise, capture training content, and support learning initiatives.
