As a Sr AI Engineer at Amazon, you will partner directly with customers to design and deliver technical solutions that drive real business outcomes — from reducing costs to launching new products. You will combine your technical depth with business understanding to architect solutions that are secure, scalable, reliable, and performant. Key job responsibilities
- Design end-to-end technical solutions for customers by understanding their business context, outcome priorities, and technology challenges, while applying sound judgment on trade-offs such as load distribution, data store choice, scaling strategy, and failover mechanisms.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, diving deeply into technical details, identifying opportunities and risks, and contributing to constructive discussions that improve their experience with our technologies.
- Leverage existing design patterns and reusable architectures where appropriate, and create new solution designs with potential for future reuse across the organization when existing patterns do not fit.
- Develop and deliver technical content including presentations, workshops, and written guidance that incorporates lessons learned from customer engagements, and share best practices with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with internal teams across sales, engineering, professional services, and support to progress customer opportunities, identify product gaps, and translate customer feedback into actionable technical requirements.

A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing a customer's architecture proposal, identifying areas where the design can be simplified or made more resilient. By midday, you are leading a working session with a customer's engineering team, whiteboarding a migration strategy and walking through the implications of different approaches. In the afternoon, you might join a peer design review with fellow architects, contribute feedback on a colleague's solution, or draft a reusable reference architecture based on a pattern you recently delivered.

Basic Qualifications

- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
