Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Design Engineer develops concepts, designs, implements, and documents engineering solutions for specialized engineering tests and industrial products, including spin pits and balancing machines. This role focuses on creating custom test equipment and mechanical systems that meet demanding customer specifications and perform reliably under extreme operating conditions. Responsibilities

- Consult and collaborate with internal teams and customers to develop engineering and spin test solutions that meet specified technical requirements.
- Prepare product and system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and engineering change notices in accordance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate the manufacturing and build of prototype products and systems, supporting the transition from design to physical implementation.
- Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards and inform designs for new or modified equipment and products.
- Perform structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs and ensure safety and reliability under extreme conditions.
- Interface effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to address technical design modifications, component selections, and requirement issues.
- Plan and execute engineering tests, including data acquisition and instrumentation, and analyze test results to refine and improve designs.
- Provide project management for assigned work, ensuring timely delivery of design, build, and test milestones.
- Support hands-on build and test activities, including troubleshooting mechanical and electro-mechanical systems during prototyping and testing.
- Maintain clear documentation of designs, analyses, test procedures, and results to support product development and future modifications.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Robotics Engineering.
- 15 years of experience in engineering machine design within a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong experience with mechanical system design, including machine structures and electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to perform finite element analysis (FEA) and structural analysis.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design.
- Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and engineering drawings.
- Experience planning and executing engineering tests and analyzing results.
- Hands-on experience with design, build, and test activities for mechanical and test equipment systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Effective communication and organizational skills to manage projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel up to 510%, including occasional international travel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with aerospace engineering applications and testing environments.
- Familiarity with ANSYS or similar tools for finite element analysis.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation used in engineering tests.
- Exposure to designing custom test equipment for jet engine and propulsion components.
- Ability to work across the full design-to-test lifecycle, from concept and analysis through build support and test execution.
- Interest in working on high-speed rotating machinery and high-temperature test environments.

Work Environment This role operates in a product development environment focused on advanced aerospace testing and industrial machinery. Engineers design custom test equipment used to evaluate jet engine and propulsion components under extreme conditions, including very high rotational speeds and temperatures. The work provides direct exposure to major aerospace organizations and their engineering teams, and offers full design-to-test ownership, with a balance of CAD and analysis, hands-on build support, and participation in live testing activities. Travel requirements are modest, at approximately 510%, with occasional international trips.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Attached is our benefit summary. All benefits are eligible after 30 days of hire. 401k with company match at 4%.
We also offer tuition reimbursement after 6 months of service.
