Job Title: Origination Manager Energy Solutions Job Description
The Origination Manager will play a key role on a Global Energy Team within the Energy Solutions Americas division, focusing on front-of-the-meter distributed solar and energy storage opportunities across a large real estate portfolio. This role supports the origination and development of strategic clean energy projects by preparing and coordinating RFP responses, managing deadlines, gathering information from stakeholders, and contributing to commercial and origination efforts. The position is highly collaborative and cross-functional, working closely with development, finance, legal, execution, and asset management teams to advance projects that drive clean energy growth.
Responsibilities
- Monitor wholesale power markets, renewable energy markets, utility integrated resource plans (IRPs), regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in key energy markets such as WECC, PJM, MISO, and the Southeast.
- Source and evaluate RFPs and other bilateral opportunities for the project portfolio, including utility, corporate, and data center offtake arrangements.
- Prepare and coordinate RFP submissions by organizing bid materials, tracking deadlines, and compiling all required documentation for utility-facing and other procurement opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders in development, finance, legal, execution, and asset management, as well as external partners, to move projects efficiently through the origination pipeline.
- Maintain accurate records of project opportunities, submissions, and commercial activity to support consistent pipeline tracking and reporting processes.
- Assist in preparing presentations, proposals, and other commercial materials for customers and counterparties to support engagement and deal advancement.
- Support negotiations of customer agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), in coordination with internal commercial and legal teams.
- Perform market and commercial analysis by monitoring price comparables from executed PPAs and other market intelligence sources to identify and prioritize market opportunities.
- Coordinate submissions and manage key milestones to ensure all RFP responses and related deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Gather and synthesize information from diverse stakeholders to produce clear, accurate, and compelling bid and proposal materials.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of origination processes, tools, and reporting to enhance efficiency and transparency across the pipeline.
- Demonstrate flexibility by stepping in to support activities beyond core responsibilities when needed in a fast-paced, startup-like team environment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of direct experience managing or coordinating RFP processes with utility companies.
- Proven experience supporting utility procurement opportunities, including utility-facing submissions.
- Strong understanding of utility RFP submissions and requirements, including documentation, compliance, and timeline management.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent RFPs, deadlines, and stakeholder inputs.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in tracking submissions, maintaining records, and preparing bid materials.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including development, finance, legal, execution, and asset management.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating market information, price comparables, and commercial terms.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing proposals, presentations, and customer-facing materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with distributed energy projects, particularly front-of-the-meter assets.
- Background in solar project development or origination.
- Experience with energy storage projects and related commercial structures.
- Exposure to energy generation assets such as solar, storage, natural gas, or other generation technologies.
- Salesforce experience for managing pipeline, opportunities, and reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills for market analysis, pricing models, and commercial evaluations.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a larger organization.
- Willingness to go beyond the formal job description and support broader team needs when required.
- Adaptability to work with different project types and markets as long as the RFP and utility procurement process is well understood.
Work Environment
This role operates within a Global Energy Team in the Energy Solutions Americas group, which functions like a startup inside a larger organization, offering a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The schedule is hybrid, typically with 23 days in the office per week; while the general policy is three days in office, enforcement is flexible due to the distributed nature of the team. The position can be based in multiple locations, with preferred offices in Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City, and additional options including Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, and Portland. Team members are encouraged to be proactive, flexible, and willing to jump in outside their core responsibilities to support key initiatives. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
