SOC Manager

Sedgwick is seeking an experienced and collaborative SOC Manager to lead our Security Operations Centre team. In this role, you will oversee 24x7x365 security monitoring and incident response, strengthen operational capability, and help shape the ongoing maturity of our global security operations program.

You will combine technical cybersecurity expertise with strong people leadership, working across security engineering, incident response, IT and business teams to protect the organisation and improve how we detect, investigate and respond to threats.

What are my accountabilities?

• Lead and develop a team of SOC Analysts responsible for monitoring and responding to security events across a 24x7x365 environment.

• Oversee security investigations and incident response activities, partnering with IT and other teams as required.

• Plan and facilitate incident response, post-incident review and tabletop exercises, using measurable benchmarks to identify progress and gaps.

• Develop and maintain SOC playbooks, policies, procedures and operating guidelines aligned with industry best practice.

• Drive automation and workflow improvements so analysts can focus on higher-value and more complex security work.

• Develop meaningful metrics, KPIs, scorecards and service objectives to measure organisational risk and SOC effectiveness.

• Partner with security engineering, threat and assessment teams to improve tool usage, monitoring coverage and response capability.

• Lead capability building through coaching, mentoring, training and a sustainable talent pipeline for SOC Analysts.

• Contribute to security projects and the broader IT security strategy and roadmap, delivering agreed outcomes within budget and service expectations.

• Remain responsive to critical incidents and system stability matters, including participation in an after-hours rotation when required.

About you

• Seven or more years of cybersecurity experience, with a strong focus on security monitoring, detection and response or closely related work.

• Demonstrated experience leading high-performing technical teams, ideally within global or 24x7 operations.

• Strong knowledge of SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, threat intelligence, security automation and orchestration, DLP, FIM, firewalls, identity and access management and related security technologies.

• Ability to lead through influence, collaborate across functions and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability, with the confidence to manage complex and time-sensitive incidents.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear reporting to cybersecurity leaders and stakeholders.

• A relevant bachelor’s degree is preferred. Certifications such as GCIH, GDAT, GCED, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate or CISSP will be highly regarded.
