Summary
The Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate, Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is seeking to hire a lead Safety and Occupational Health Manager. You will provide direction to a team of Safety professionals that provide safety support for KSC across program areas including facility inspection, safety consultation, mishap investigation, emergency response, manufacturing safety, and contractor insight.

Duties
Oversee a team of safety specialists and defines technical work requirements and milestones; evaluate the organization and employee accomplishments by accepting or rejecting work products.
Lead and perform the technical management duties of safety programs for the Program/Center.
Responsible for ensuring compliance by Center personnel with applicable regulations and laws including but not limited to 29 CFR 1960, 29 CFR 1926, and other applicable safety and health mandates.
Monitor contractor and team member progress versus plan, ensuring that the team's work and the contractor work is of an acceptable quality and in compliance with contract provisions when applicable.
Review plans, specifications, and manufacturing processes for technical adequacy; report progress and issues; resolve complex problems; ensure conformance with requirements; and provide assistance when deficiencies are identified.
Function as SME on all aspects of the Occupational Safety function including but not limited to Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, interpretation of OSHA standards, and Contractor safety programs evaluations.
Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

This position may require a one-year probationary period. If selected, the requirement to serve such period will be determined by Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 11. **See Additional Information section**

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for the GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Applying safety and occupational health concepts, principles, laws, and regulations used to resolve complex safety and health management issues;
Interpreting and applying internal safety policies, procedural requirements, and federal compliance standards (such as OSHA);
Directing and leading cross-functional teams to successfully deliver project goals and requirements on schedule.
