Who we are looking for:
As Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (AI, Cyber) for Rogers Bank, this position provides independent second-line oversight of artificial intelligence, technology and cyber risk. The role supports the responsible adoption of AI, machine learning, generative AI and agentic technologies within the Bank’s approved risk appetite and applicable regulatory expectations.
The Manager oversees risk across the AI lifecycle, from intake and risk classification through implementation, monitoring, material change and retirement. The role considers model, technology, cyber, third-party, data, privacy, operational, compliance, customer and reputational risks and provides independent advice and effective challenge to management.
What you will do:
- Provide independent advice and effective challenge on AI use cases, third-party solutions and material changes, with clear recommendations to management and governance committees.
- Assess whether AI risks have been identified, evaluated and managed appropriately and whether residual risk remains within approved risk appetite.
- Oversee the completeness and quality of the AI inventory and its alignment, where applicable, with model, technology, data and third-party inventories.
- Review the adequacy of lifecycle controls, including testing, validation, human oversight, access management, monitoring, incident response, fallback arrangements and retirement plans.
- Define and monitor appropriate risk indicators and thresholds, including model performance, drift, stability, harmful or unexpected outputs, overrides, incidents and customer impacts.
- Provide second-line oversight of AI-related technology, cyber and third-party risks, including data leakage, unauthorized access, model manipulation, insecure integrations, vendor dependency and operational resilience.
- Coordinate the identification, escalation, remediation and closure of AI risk issues, regulatory findings and internal audit observations.
- Monitor regulatory developments and emerging practices and recommend proportionate enhancements to the Bank’s AI risk framework.
- Prepare clear reporting on material AI risks, use cases, incidents, issues and control effectiveness for senior management and governance committees.
What you bring:
- Practical understanding of AI and machine-learning concepts, including generative AI, large language models, foundation models and agentic systems, sufficient to assess risks and challenge technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with recognized AI governance and risk frameworks, such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, EU AI Act, or comparable responsible-AI standards.
- Experience assessing third-party AI, cloud platforms, customer-facing AI, automated decision systems, generative AI or agentic workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to provide independent challenge, exercise sound judgement, and influence decisions without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and risk matters in plain language.
- Proven ability to manage several priorities and work effectively across business, risk, technology and control functions.
- Ability to work autonomously, driving commitment and engagement throughout the business, acting as an owner and a hands-on partner.
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, data science, mathematics, statistics, information systems or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
