On behalf of DEFRA , we are looking for a Senior Statistician (Inside IR35) for a 6 Month contract based Remotely .

As a Senior Statistician , your main responsibilities will be:

- Provide statistical leadership for the LTEC programme, undertaking complex statistical analysis to help meet its primary objectives .
- Unlock the value of long-term datasets by thorough rigorous, iterative analysis .
- Analysis of complex , multi-pressure ecological datasets, required to identify causal drivers of ecosystem change.
- Develop a revised monitoring design to reduce redundancy and increase statistical power, improving efficiency and ensuring that future data collection is efficient, targeted, and statistically robust.
- Revise the monitoring design to retain as much of the current methodology as possible, to facilitate maximum use of existing data.
- Consult LTEC evidence users and partners —including Natural England, Defra, research and academic institutions—to consider their needs during development of the new survey design.

Essential:

- Experience of working in statistical and/or ecological or environmental fields, educated to degree level in a relevant subject or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience
- A good understanding of experimental/survey design and related statistical analyses ; ideally experience in ecological statistics
- Experience of a range of statistical techniques in R or Python (or SPSS) for examining relationships (including multivariate) between data and for inference, parametric and non-parametric analysis , and quantifying uncertainty
- Manage and deliver your work to meet agreed targets and deadlines
