How You'll Help Us Make Health Happen
As a Specialist Audiologist, you'll provide a comprehensive audiology service across adult and paediatric patient groups, delivering expert assessments and ensuring the highest standards of clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive diagnostic audiology assessments for adult and paediatric patients.
- Perform pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, speech audiometry, and otoacoustic emissions testing.
- Undertake paediatric hearing assessments using age-appropriate techniques including Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) and Play Audiometry.
- Participate in vestibular assessment services, including Video nystagmography (VNG) testing. Training can be provided for candidates looking to develop skills in this area.
- Communicate assessment results clearly and sensitively to patients, families, consultants, and referring clinicians.
- Produce accurate clinical reports and maintain high-quality electronic patient records.
- Ensure audiology equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operated in line with departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
- Work in accordance with professional standards, best practice guidance, and departmental procedures.
- Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of the Audiology department.
- Collaborate effectively with consultants, nurses, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver outstanding patient care.
Key Skills / Qualifications
Essential
- BSc (Hons) in Audiology or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Registration with the RCCP, HCPC, or eligibility to register.
- Experience delivering diagnostic audiology assessments for adults and/or paediatric patients.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional care.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and continuous professional development.
Desirable
- Experience in vestibular assessment services, including VNG testing.
- Experience working within an acute hospital or private healthcare setting.
- Interest in contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
