Grade – C16
Contract – 12 month fixed term contract
Location: Cromwell Hospital, London SW5 0TU
Hybrid working: 2 days on site per week
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: From £75,000 dependant on experience

The Senior PMO Manager will lead a centralised Programme Management Office (PMO) function to support the technology and transformation initiatives, improving visibility, consistency, and overall delivery discipline. The role will provide centralised governance, reporting, and dashboarding, strengthening data quality and consistency to enable more mature delivery process.
The PMO Manager will take a leading role in coordinating backlog management, project prioritisation, and planning cycles, including preparation for executive prioritisation sessions and supporting structured increment and detailed planning. This will ensure a consistent approach to how work is prioritised, planned, and delivered across teams.
How you’ll help us make health happen
- Lead and manage the centralised PMO function for the Cromwell Transformation Programme, ensuring consistent governance, planning, reporting and delivery standards across the portfolio.
- Maintain a single, accurate portfolio view across active initiatives, pipeline demand, priorities, delivery status, risks, issues, dependencies and decisions.
- Own and improve portfolio reporting, dashboarding, data quality and source consistency to support executive-level decision-making and confidence in delivery insight.
- Establish and maintain a central view of resource demand versus capacity across IT and Transformation delivery teams, identifying constraints, conflicts, dependencies and optimisation opportunities
- Drive adherence to agreed governance processes, ensuring consistent project reporting, action follow-up, escalation routes, decision tracking and delivery discipline
- Support the Head of Transformation Programme by taking ownership of operational PMO activities, enabling greater focus on strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and transformation outcomes.
- Build effective relationships with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and enabling functions to support transparent communication, timely escalation and effective portfolio control
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
- 3+ years’ experience in a PMO, Programme Office, Portfolio Office or delivery governance role, ideally within a complex transformation, healthcare, hospital or multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong understanding of portfolio governance, delivery controls, reporting standards, RAID management, dependency management, milestone tracking and executive reporting.
- Proven experience creating, managing or improving portfolio dashboards, reporting packs, data models and governance information across multiple projects or programmes
- Experience coordinating backlog management, planning cycles, prioritisation processes and portfolio review forums
- Healthcare background is beneficial and desirable
- Experience supporting resource demand and capacity planning, including identification of constraints, conflicts, resource gaps and optimisation opportunities
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with senior leaders, delivery teams, IT, Transformation and hospital stakeholders
- Strong working knowledge of project, portfolio and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Planner, Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint. Current JD already references Microsoft Project, Jira, DevOps and Planner as relevant tools.
- Project, programme, portfolio, Agile, PMO or change-related qualifications are desirable, such as PRINCE2, MSP, P3O, Agile, Scrum, APM or equivalent professional experience
