The Change Control Analyst (CCA) plays a critical role in leading and executing the engineering change management process for North America vehicle programs. Operating in the key window from Freeze Design Intent through Ok to Build, this role ensures that Engineering Change Requests (CRs) are validated, authorized, and released in alignment with program timing, cost, and quality targets. The analyst serves as the primary bridge between engineering, manufacturing plants, and cross-functional approval teams, owning the change process end-to-end and directly influencing program performance and vehicle build quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate WERS Change Control and CPE/DF meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas, documenting decisions, and managing follow-up actions.
- Review and validate data within Engineering Change Requests and concerns to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with program timing, cost, and quality requirements.
- Actively coach and support engineers and CR authors in writing high-quality change requests and navigating complex WERS workflows.
- Partner with cross-functional teams such as vehicle operations, product validation, program management, finance, and plant/vehicle line teams to drive CR approvals and expedite notice releases.
- Administer WERS C-screen and D-screen approvals, including assigning correct PIN numbers and maintaining precise documentation for all changes.
- Confirm cost and timing containment for all processed changes by coordinating closely with program teams and assembly plants to secure required approvals.
- Monitor CR throughput, track open and aging change requests, identify bottlenecks, and proactively escalate issues to prevent program delays.
- Issue CR night letters and detailed status reports, including PO/TO metrics and other program health indicators, to provide clear visibility to leadership.
- Support or execute production release activities for vehicle programs by validating release documentation, ensuring all required approvals are obtained, and confirming changes are implemented in line with production timing requirements.
- Coordinate with program teams and assembly plants to ensure engineering changes are correctly reflected in production processes and documentation.
- Use Microsoft Excel to manage large datasets, perform data analysis, track change activity and metrics, and develop status reports and summaries for program management reviews.
- Apply formulas, pivot tables, filtering, sorting, and data validation tools in Excel to maintain accurate and actionable change management information.
- Utilize Team Center and Teamcenter to access and review engineering data, part information, bills of material, documentation, and release-related records that support engineering change and production release activities.
- Support engineering teams by locating and interpreting engineering documentation, resolving data-related issues impacting change implementation, and ensuring data integrity in engineering systems.
- Manage change implementation from initiation through approval and production release by tracking open changes, monitoring aging, driving approvals, and maintaining visibility of program health metrics.
- Coordinate engineering release activities and ensure that design changes are aligned with program timing, manufacturing readiness, and vehicle quality objectives.
- Demonstrate strong communication and leadership by working across multiple organizations, maintaining a high sense of urgency, and holding stakeholders accountable for timely and accurate change execution.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related technical field.
- Solid understanding of engineering change management processes, including end-to-end change control and release management.
- Hands-on experience with WERS, including independently creating, reviewing, validating, and managing Engineering Change Requests.
- Ability to navigate WERS C- and D-screens, manage release intent, review change documentation, and support approval routing.
- Experience ensuring engineering changes align with program timing, cost, and quality requirements.
- Proficiency in Team Center and Teamcenter for accessing and reviewing engineering data, part information, bills of material, documentation, and release-related records.
- Knowledge of release engineering processes and the relationship between design changes, program timing, manufacturing readiness, and vehicle quality.
- Capability in release management, including tracking open changes, monitoring aging, identifying bottlenecks, driving approvals, and escalating issues when necessary.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with excellent communication skills for working with global and cross-functional teams.
- Strong sense of urgency and proactive problem-solving skills to support high-stakes build phases from TT to OKTB.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to own processes, challenge data, and guide teams through complex workflows.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability in managing change documentation and approvals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including managing large datasets, performing data analysis, tracking metrics, and developing status reports.
- Experience using Excel formulas, pivot tables, filtering, sorting, and data validation tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting or executing production release activities for vehicle programs, including validating release documentation and coordinating with program teams and assembly plants.
- Practical experience using Teamcenter as an engineering data management tool to support release activities and resolve data-related issues.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple organizations and cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, program management, and finance.
