Inside the Role
We are seeking a software architect and debugger to shape the future Driver Experience domain for Daimler Truck and its brands.

You will lead the SW architecture development of one of our new Daimler Truck HMI ECUs (Instrument Cluster). In collaboration with our global development team, you will deliver forward-thinking, robust, and maintainable solutions for all Daimler Truck brands. Your involvement will span all development phases, including ideation, architecture, prototyping, validation and release.

The Driver Experience team focuses on digital on-truck solutions and works hand in hand with design, engineering, and product strategy teams globally.

Position offers a starting salary range of $117,000 – $150,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA

· Design, develop, integrate, and maintain automotive HMI software for embedded platforms, primarily using Qt and C++

· Implement customer-facing instrument cluster features and visualizations

· Translate system, component, and UX/UI requirements into robust software solutions

· Work closely with UX/UI designers, developers, architects, and systems engineers, located in Germany, India, and the United States, to ensure alignment between requirements, architecture, and implementation

· Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions

· Support software integration, debugging, and root-cause analysis across vehicle, test bench, and simulation environments

· Define, maintain, and drive adoption of software development and quality standards

· Establish coding guidelines, design principles, documentation expectations, and code-review criteria

· Conduct architecture, design, and implementation assessments to ensure compliance with defined standards

· Identify deviations, document findings, and coordinate corrective actions with the responsible development teams

· Track software quality metrics and communicate risks, trends, and improvement priorities

· Define measurable acceptance criteria for source code quality, maintainability, test coverage, and release readiness

· Support compliance with functional safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements

· Coach and mentor team members and colleagues on all aspects of development, from methodologies to execution

Knowledge You Should Bring

·  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with 5 or more years of relevant software development experience

· 3 or more years of experience developing complex graphical user interfaces using technologies such as Qt, OpenGL, React, Svelte, or comparable frameworks

· Strong software engineering skills and proficiency in modern C++, object-oriented design, and maintainable software architecture

· Experience developing embedded software for automotive, industrial, or safety-critical products

· Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, static analysis, and automated testing

· Experience conducting code reviews and defining or applying software development standards

· Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills

· Ability to communicate technical decisions, quality risks, and improvement actions across global teams

· Detail-oriented, proactive, reliable, and comfortable working in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

· Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with 7 or more years of relevant software development experience

· Experience developing automotive instrument clusters, infotainment, HUDs, or similar HMI products

· Knowledge of automotive software architectures, including AUTOSAR or comparable platform concepts

· Familiarity with CAN, LIN, automotive Ethernet, diagnostics, and vehicle communication interfaces

· Experience with embedded automotive platforms

· Familiarity with ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE

· Experience defining software processes and engineering governance

· Familiarity with Agile and SAFe development methodologies

· Experience leading technical communities or mentoring engineers

· Familiarity with relevant automotive development and collaboration tools, such as Vector tools, DiagnosticLink, Jira, Confluence, DOORS, XDIS, or MATLAB

· Expertise in software architecture design patterns, UML modeling, and system decomposition

· Experience in software-defined vehicle technologies and architectures

· Exposure to HMI design principles and UX considerations for instrument clusters
