Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA’s core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.

Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

The Detroit Powertrain Engineering is actively developing heavy-duty propulsion systems into the future, compliance remains fundamental to our powertrain development culture. This position will provide critical technical development in the area of vehicle in-use emission testing and validation. Working within a cross-functional team of thermodynamic, aftertreatment system, vehicle testing, data science and regulatory affairs experts, this role will focus on ensuring in-use emission requirements are fulfilled.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $29 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA

- Execute vehicle in-use emission testing for development programs and analyze data to ensure fulfillment of DVPR and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct heavy duty in-use emission audits with customer vehicles and provide data to the compliance and regulatory affairs team.
- Calibrate emission equipment so that it's prepared for vehicle in-use emission testing.
- Drive continuous improvement through the development of automated test processes, data analysis tools, and reporting solutions.
- Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations of technical results to the management team.
- Foster effective collaboration and communication across cross-functional teams in a global, multicultural environment.
- Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs

Knowledge You Should Bring

- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid organizational skills
- Creative mindset
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
