Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

- Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff, physical therapists and other professionals to coordinate performance programming, support continuity across the rehabilitation-to-performance continuum and promote safe participation within established clinical and program guidelines.

- Communicate professionally with participants, families, healthcare providers and staff regarding program expectations, attendance, training activities, performance findings and progress toward established goals. Refer clinical symptoms and return-to-sport clearance decisions to the appropriate licensed healthcare professional.

- Complete training records, participant documentation, program data and administrative responsibilities accurately and timely in accordance with departmental, organizational and regulatory requirements.

- Conduct and interpret approved fitness and performance assessments consistent with professional credentials, organizational competencies and standardized testing protocols. Use assessment findings to guide training recommendations, establish performance goals and monitor outcomes.

- Develop and implement individualized and group performance-training programs that address strength, power, speed, agility, conditioning, movement quality and long-term athletic development based on participant goals, assessment findings and established program standards.

- Instruct and coach pediatric participants in evidence-informed exercise technique, movement mechanics, training progression and safe use of equipment while adapting coaching strategies to the participant’s age, developmental level, sport and training experience.

- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional training environment through routine equipment inspection, appropriate facility setup, enforcement of safety standards, and timely reporting of equipment or environmental concerns.

- Monitor and evaluate participant attendance, engagement, exercise tolerance, and performance outcomes. Modify training programs based on participant response, assessment data, established goals, medical restrictions, and approved program guidelines.

- Participate in staff meetings, interdisciplinary case discussions, competency development, continuing education, quality-improvement activities, and safety initiatives that advance professional practice and program effectiveness.

- Support program enrollment, scheduling, participant communication, data collection, community outreach, camps, educational activities, and other departmental initiatives. Contribute to program development, operational efficiency, and achievement of established performance goals.

Required Skills/Abilities

- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association

- Certification in BLS.

- Strong knowledge of youth athletic development, strength and conditioning principles, and coaching methodologies.

Preferred Skills/Abilities

- 1 or more years of experience in youth, high school, or college strength and conditioning programs.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Exercise Science or related field.

- Experience administering and interpreting sport science testing protocols, including assessments of strength, power, speed, agility, asymmetry, and readiness.
- Familiarity with athlete monitoring systems and performance technologies, including experience using VALD Performance products, isokinetic strength testing, and associated athlete management platforms.
