Description
Worley is seeking an experienced Project Engineer with expertise in providing technical leadership and project management for mining projects, including open-pit and underground mining operations. The successful candidate will have experience leading technical studies and supporting project execution while maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards. This role requires expertise in procurement management, safety program support, and the delivery of engineering solutions aligned with health, safety, and environmental objectives. The ideal candidate will also bring strong leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with a solid understanding of open-pit and underground mining operations.
This is a full-time position based in our Mesa, Arizona office. This is not a remote opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical and consulting services to mining clients, offering specialized guidance and solutions.
- Lead and deliver technical and engineering work for Conceptual, Pre-feasibility, and Feasibility Studies.
- Support and actively participate in the technical and engineering execution of mining projects while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Contribute to business development strategies by providing valuable input and expanding professional networks to support project opportunities.
- Assess procurement processes throughout the project to ensure goods meet specifications, adhere to schedules, and remain within budget constraints.
- Deliver a project and/or area package that is safe, sustainable, on schedule, and within budget.
- Actively support the Worley safety program and promote a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) focus within the team. Ensure compliance with MHSA requirements in design and procurement activities.
- Demonstrate behaviors and business practices aligned with strong health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Conduct site visits and work at project sites as required to gain firsthand knowledge of project conditions.
- Develop and review cost estimates and schedules to support effective project planning and execution.
- Support and guide the technical and engineering execution of open-pit and underground mining projects, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Provide strategic input into business development activities, expanding professional networks to identify and pursue new project opportunities.
- Oversee procurement processes throughout the project, ensuring materials meet specifications, are delivered on schedule, and remain within budget constraints.
What you will bring
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of open-pit and underground mining and process plant operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications and engineering tools.
Required
- Bachelor’s Mechanical or Mining Engineering degree.
- Advanced degree in Engineering would be considered an asset.
- 10+ years of experience in mining, particularly process plant, open-pit and/or underground mining, and material handling projects.
- 5+ years of Senior Engineer or Project Engineer experience in underground and/or open-pit mining projects.
- Experience and familiarity with NI 43-101 and/or SK-1300 compliant studies highly regarded.
- Willingness to travel.
Preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona.
- 3 or more years of EPC/EPCM mining project experience.
- Construction and/or operational mining experience preferred.
