We are seeking a knowledgeable and responsible Lab Lead to oversee and guide our laboratory operations, ensuring the testing of safe, high-quality products. The Lab Lead will oversee and guide a team of lab technicians in their daily operations and testing procedures. This position is responsible for ensuring that all laboratory activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The Lab Lead will provide direction, support, and training to the team, ensuring that all tests and analyses are completed accurately and on time. Additionally, the Lab Lead will collaborate with other departments to maintain high-quality standards and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during testing processes.
Purpose Statement
The role involves a range of tasks associated with the front-line team, focused on improving departmental performance. Responsibilities include engaging in laboratory processes to maintain food quality and safety standards. This position offers the chance to work with a diverse array of lab equipment and techniques, while collaborating with other quality lab technicians. It also provides an opportunity to express your passion for laboratory quality and apply your knowledge to enhance food quality and safety across various product types. All quality lab leads will report directly to the respective laboratory microbiologists.
Key Accountabilities/Outcomes
- Perform routine quality control testing on aerosol dairy products, including physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses.
- Conduct sensory evaluations and assist in product development trials.
- Maintain accurate records of tests and results, generating reports as required.
- Maintain adherences to safety regulations and best practices, promoting a culture of safety within the laboratory.
- Capable of determining exposure or potential impacts to our products quality and potential improvements with superiors.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills required for the position – excel spreadsheet, word and basic abilities to read and manipulate drawings.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies, equipment and maintenance activities as needed.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation recording of experimental data.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and equipment malfunctions, reporting any needed repairs and maintenance with appropriate personnel.
- Maintain data calibration of all quality control equipment and measurement devices.
- Stay up to date with advancements in laboratory techniques, technologies, and regulatory requirements, and adapt to new relevant improvements.
- Help conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory guidelines when needed.
- Communicate all progress of reports, records, and documentation related to laboratory operations, experiments, and safety procedures to lab lead or supervisor.
- Perform daily/weekly data verification of quality paperwork and production paperwork and able to call out any needed corrections to lab lead or supervisor prior to filing away.
- Capable of keeping up to date with daily retention and needed requested samples of production runs that need to be grabbed. `
- Capable of creating any needed Hold Tag upon request after the training.
- Capable of carrying out proper documentation of any destruction of goods when requested after training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- High school or higher degree with experience in Quality, or related field preferred.
- Bilingual with Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
- Knowing and adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Demonstrated understanding with Laboratory data.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle unexpected situations and prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact.
- Capable of lifting around 10 pounds of weight.
- Having self/reliable transportation.
- Committed to maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and ethical work environment.
- Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and scientific advancements.
