Role Snapshot
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented hardware technician who enjoys building, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting devices before they reach customers. The Clock Hardware Specialist plays a direct role in product quality, customer readiness, and operational efficiency.

Position Summary
The Clock Hardware Specialist owns the hands-on preparation of time clock hardware before customer deployment, including assembly, configuration, quality control, functional testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and fulfillment readiness.
This position serves as a critical quality checkpoint, ensuring every device leaving the facility is properly assembled, configured, tested, documented, and ready for customer use. The role requires strong attention to detail, hands-on technical ability, disciplined documentation, and the ability to identify and resolve hardware, firmware, and assembly-related issues.
The Clock Hardware Specialist will work closely with the Technical Support, Fulfillment, and Operations teams to maintain consistent hardware quality standards and ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:

Hardware Assembly & Configuration
·        Assemble time clock hardware according to product specifications, customer requirements, and established assembly procedures.
·        Install and configure internal and external hardware components, including card readers, biometric modules, barcode/QR readers, batteries, communication modules, and other supported peripherals.
·        Perform device-specific modifications and customer-specific hardware configurations as required.
·        Load, update, or verify approved firmware, operating system versions, and clock applications.
·        Apply required device settings and configurations before final testing.
·        Verify that all installed components are properly connected, secured, and functioning as designed.
·        Maintain clean and organized assembly workstations and properly handle sensitive electronic components.
Quality Control & Testing
·        Perform complete QC inspections on all assembled clock hardware before approval for shipment or deployment.
·        Conduct power-on, boot, display, touchscreen, network, peripheral, and functional testing.
·        Test supported authentication technologies, including fingerprint, facial recognition, proximity/RFID, smart card, barcode/QR, and other applicable readers.
·        Verify Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and other supported communication functionality where applicable.
·        Confirm proper operation of batteries, power adapters, PoE configurations, relays, speakers, cameras, biometric modules, and other hardware components.
·        Inspect devices for cosmetic defects, assembly issues, loose components, damaged connectors, or other manufacturing concerns.
·        Confirm serial numbers, model information, hardware configuration, firmware versions, and customer-specific requirements against the associated order or build documentation.
·        Complete and document QC checklists for each device or production batch.
·        Ensure devices meet established quality standards before releasing them for fulfillment or deployment.

Hardware Troubleshooting & Repair
·        Diagnose hardware failures discovered during assembly or QC testing.
·        Troubleshoot issues involving power, displays, touchscreens, coreboards, biometric modules, card readers, communication interfaces, cables, batteries, and other clock components.
·        Determine whether an issue can be corrected through configuration, firmware, component replacement, or hardware repair.
·        Replace defective components when appropriate and repeat the full QC process following repairs.
·        Escalate recurring or unusual hardware defects to Technical Support, Engineering, or management for further investigation.
·        Document hardware failures and help identify trends that may indicate manufacturing, supplier, firmware, or assembly-related problems.
Inventory & Hardware Control
·        Maintain accurate tracking of clock hardware, components, replacement parts, and accessories used during assembly.
·        Ensure serial numbers and device configurations are accurately documented.
·        Report low inventory levels or recurring defective components to management.
·        Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and hardware reconciliation.
·        Maintain proper organization of clock hardware, spare parts, tools, and assembly materials.
·        Help ensure defective, pending-QC, completed, and approved hardware is clearly identified and separated.
Fulfillment & Cross-Functional Support
·        Prepare completed and QC-approved devices for handoff to the fulfillment/shipping process.
·        Verify that required accessories, cables, power supplies, mounting hardware, and documentation are included with customer orders.
·        Coordinate with Technical Support and Fulfillment when special configurations or customer-specific requirements are needed.
·        Assist Technical Support with hardware testing and reproduction of customer-reported hardware issues when necessary.
·        Support testing of new clock models, hardware revisions, peripherals, firmware releases, and replacement components.
·        Provide feedback on assembly procedures, QC processes, and opportunities to improve hardware reliability and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
·        Strong hands-on technical and mechanical aptitude.
·        Experience assembling, testing, repairing, or troubleshooting electronic devices or computer hardware.
