Job Title: Service Technician Low Voltage / Security Service and Installation Job Description This role is for an experienced Service Technician specializing in commercial low-voltage, electronic security, and gate automation systems. The technician installs, services, and troubleshoots advanced access control, automated gate systems, IP video, and related security infrastructure for commercial clients. This is not an entry-level position; the role requires a seasoned professional who can run jobs independently, solve complex technical issues, and deliver exceptional customer service while working on-site at regional job locations. Responsibilities
- Install, service, and maintain commercial low-voltage, electronic security, and gate automation systems for a variety of commercial sites.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and repair access control systems, IP video systems, and networking components to ensure reliable and secure operation.
- Work with commercial gate operators and related hardware, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues; experience with brands such as PTI is a plus.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical wiring diagrams to plan and execute installations and service work accurately.
- Perform detailed diagnostic testing on electrical and low-voltage systems using appropriate tools and instruments, such as micrometers and other measuring devices.
- Independently manage service calls and installation projects, including assessing site conditions, determining required materials, and executing work with minimal supervision.
- Provide professional, courteous customer support on-site, clearly explaining findings, recommended solutions, and system operations to clients.
- Document work performed, including system configurations, repairs, and parts used, to maintain accurate service records and support ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with project teams and office staff as needed to coordinate schedules, communicate job status, and ensure timely completion of assignments.
- Respond to after-hours on-call service requests, diagnosing and resolving urgent system issues to minimize downtime for clients.
- Adhere to industry best practices and safety standards when working with electrical, low-voltage, and mechanical systems in commercial environments.
- Travel daily to regional job sites across multiple states, maintaining professionalism and representing the organization positively at all times.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of professional experience in commercial low-voltage, electronic security, or gate automation fields.
- Strong working knowledge of access control systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting in commercial environments.
- Hands-on experience with IP video systems and networking fundamentals
- Understanding of relay logic and its application in security, access control, and gate automation systems.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical wiring diagrams for electrical and low-voltage installations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with commercial gate operators, including brands such as PTI, is a significant plus.
- Interest in gaining or expanding project management experience within a growing organization and a rapidly advancing industry.

Work Environment This is a full-time, in-person field role with a Monday to Friday schedule and participation in an after-hours on-call rotation. The position involves 100% travel to regional job sites across PA, MD, DE, NJ, and occasionally NY, with daily local travel and periodic overnight stays (approximately 23 nights per month). A company credit card is provided for travel-related expenses during overnight trips. Work is performed on-site at commercial facilities, focusing on advanced access control, automated gate systems, and enterprise surveillance technologies. The environment is hands-on and technical, requiring regular use of tools, electrical test equipment, and diagnostic instruments. Technicians typically wear practical, professional attire suitable for field work and compliance with safety requirements. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
