About this role

Job Description The General Clerk II will have the following duties and responsibilities:

- learn the processes to be able to build toolboxes by attaching identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment using electric marking tool
- learn the mobile calibration process for test equipment (equipment listing, pricing, purchase request/order)
- maintain organized and accurate records to be able to perform well during internal and external audits
- be able to receive, store, and issue hand tools, dies, replacement parts, shop supplies and equipment, such as measuring devices, in an industrial establishment
- learn our database to be able to maintain and update records of tool room equipment, tools & kits
- learn how to calibrate hand tools, as required and update the records in the tool room database
- keep records of tools issued to and returned from workers, be able to search for lost or misplaced tools,
prepare periodic inventory reports
- learn our standard operating procedures (SOP) and follow accordingly
- be able unpack and store equipment and be able to lift 40 lbs
- be able to recognize when a tool is damaged or worn-out and report to superiors
- be able to track damaged material through the repair process
- attend hazmat training courses to obtain hazmat certifications
- learn our hazmat program to be able to order/receive/store hazmat items as needed by the program efficiently and in line with our quality and health, safety and environmental standards
- be able to assist four locations for the upkeep of hazmat chemicals and inventory
- learn how to obtain quote to be able to procure, receive, and stock specialized tools
- update material inventory
- learn to manage government and commercially owned stock

The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $18.94/hr.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills High School diploma and at least 1 year of experience working in a warehouse environment
Detail oriented and good organizational skills
Motivated, self starter
Experience with inventory control
Experience using Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
Dependable and reliable
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
Basic knowledge of tools and their functions
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Previous Tool Room Experience
Current security clearance

Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
