Overview

Rehabilitation Aide/Transporter

Make a difference while gaining hands-on experience in a rehabilitation setting.

Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking a Rehabilitation Aide/Transporter to support patients and clinical staff in a dynamic rehabilitation environment. In this role, you will transport and assist patients, help clinicians with patient care activities, maintain treatment spaces and equipment, and provide important day-to-day support to the rehabilitation program.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, or another healthcare profession who wants exposure to a clinical setting while supporting children and adults with developmental or acquired disabilities.

What You'll Do

- Greet, assist, transfer, and transport patients throughout the clinical setting.

- Prepare, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas before and after treatment sessions.

- Assist with therapeutic exercise and functional activity programs under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, in accordance with Maryland law.

- Assist patients with hygiene and/or dressing needs as appropriate.

- Demonstrate appropriate application and removal of electrodes and orthotic devices and assist with adaptive equipment and rehabilitation modalities.

- Communicate any adverse effects or patient concerns to the supervising clinician.

- Help patients and families understand appointment schedules in coordination with clinicians and scheduling staff.

- Provide general program information and clinic tours to new patients and families.

- Maintain program supplies, including inventory, labeling, storage, and ordering.

- Assist with the cleaning, organization, transportation, tracking, scheduling, and safe storage of rehabilitation equipment.

- Identify and report equipment or environmental safety concerns.

- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, regulatory-review preparation, and performance-improvement activities.

Qualifications

Required

- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross .

Preferred

- Associate's degree.

- Current enrollment in a healthcare-related curriculum, certification, or academic program.

- Previous work or volunteer experience in a hospital or clinical setting.

- Experience working with children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

- Lift and transfer patients and adaptive/therapeutic equipment weighing up to 35 pounds .

- Perform physical activities necessary to support therapy treatment programs.

- Move between offices and clinical locations throughout the workday.

- Use computers, peripheral devices, rehabilitation equipment, and/or assistive technology as needed.

- Travel to different locations within Maryland and/or nationally when required.

Work Environment

- This is an on-site position requiring physical presence at the assigned work location.

- Some work outside normally scheduled hours may be required.

- The clinical environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and individuals exhibiting aggressive or challenging behaviors.

## Minimum pay range
USD $15.00/Hr.

## Maximum pay range
USD $23.00/Hr.
