Physical Therapist I

Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapist I to provide evaluation and treatment services for individuals with acquired or developmental disabilities.
In this role, you will evaluate patients, develop individualized plans of care, provide evidence-based physical therapy interventions, collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team members, and help patients work toward greater mobility, function, and participation.
This opportunity is ideal for a Physical Therapist who is passionate about rehabilitation and interested in developing expertise in pediatrics and the treatment of individuals with developmental or acquired disabilities .
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and re-evaluate patients using appropriate examination techniques and standardized, objective measurement tools.
- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy plans of care based on each patient's needs and goals.
- Provide treatment in accordance with Maryland Physical Therapy standards of practice and within your professional competencies.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, case managers, and members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
- Educate patients and caregivers on appropriate home and community programming.
- Delegate appropriate components of the plan of care to Physical Therapist Assistants and communicate effectively regarding patient needs and progress.
- Provide direct supervision to rehabilitation technicians, aides, trainees, and students as appropriate.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation consistent with APTA guidelines, departmental policies, and Maryland laws and regulations governing physical therapy practice.
- Participate in interdisciplinary conferences, staff meetings, training programs, regulatory-review preparation, and performance-improvement initiatives.
- Help maintain departmental equipment and supplies.
- Participate in professional development activities that support continued clinical growth.
Qualifications
Required
- Current licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Maryland .
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation ( CPR ) certification.
- Master's degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
Highly Preferred
- Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
Experience Preferred
- Previous physical therapy and/or rehabilitation experience.
- Experience working in pediatrics .
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Lift and transfer patients and adaptive or therapeutic equipment weighing up to 35 pounds .
- Perform the physical activities necessary to complete physical therapy assessments and treatment programs.
- Move between offices and various clinical locations throughout the workday.
- Effectively use computers, peripheral devices, rehabilitation equipment, and/or assistive technology.
- Travel to different locations within Maryland and/or nationally as needed.
Work Environment
- This position requires physical presence at the assigned job site.
- Availability outside normally scheduled working hours may occasionally be required.
- The clinical environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and individuals exhibiting aggressive or challenging behaviors.
## Minimum pay range
USD $78,000.00/Yr.
## Maximum pay range
USD $106,886.00/Yr.
