The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Candidate Architect (recent Master’s graduate) to join our team. In this exciting role, you will bridge the gap between architectural theory and practice, working closely with senior architects and our interdisciplinary teams. If you are passionate about innovative design, eager to develop your skills across the full project lifecycle, and want to make a tangible impact on the future of housing in South Africa while working towards your professional registration, this is your chance.
Key Responsibilities
As a Candidate Architect, you will:
- Assist in developing architectural designs from concept through to technical documentation under the mentorship of senior architects.
- Produce high-quality 3D models, presentation materials, and design reports for internal and external review.
- Contribute as an integral part of the interdisciplinary design and construction teams, ensuring design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of local authority documentation.
- Participate in site visits and coordination meetings to gain practical experience in building technologies, site execution, and construction methods.
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- Education: Master's degree in Architecture (M.Arch or equivalent professional degree).
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Revit is non-negotiable.
- Work Ethic: Strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to learning, and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Mindset: A flexible, adaptable, and open attitude towards new technologies, modern ways of working, and continuous learning.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; fluency in English.
- Passion: A genuine interest in alternative building materials, sustainable construction, and innovative urban design.
- Registration: Registered (or currently in the process of registering) with SACAP as a Candidate Architect.
Nice-to-Haves (Advantageous):
- Knowledge of Rhino, Grasshopper, or Dynamo.
- Experience with rendering engines such as D5,Enscape, or Lumion.
