The Assistant Director of Career Development Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Career Development delivers a comprehensive career development model for undergraduate and graduate students and assists in the development of industry-specific career pathways. Working closely with administration, faculty, recruiters, alumni, student organizations, and students across multiple undergraduate and graduate programs, this role provides one-on-one career advisement, develops and delivers professional development programming, and supports the achievement of program goals and successful post-graduation outcomes. The Assistant Director tracks and reports employment outcomes using established industry standards, builds and maintains strategic relationships with key stakeholders, and partners with college leadership to assess program effectiveness through data-informed continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-engagement environment, demonstrates a proactive and solutions-oriented approach when priorities evolve, and operates with a "one team" mindset, readily contributing beyond assigned responsibilities to achieve collective goals and exceptional results. Key Responsibilities

- Carry out the SC Johnson College of Business comprehensive career development model for undergraduate students and deliver programming that supports career development, career management, and internship and job outcomes.

- Meet one-on-one with undergraduate and graduate students to formulate personalized career development plans and provide guidance on career readiness, career exploration, job search strategies, resume and cover letter development, LinkedIn profiles, behavioral interviewing, job offer negotiations, and OPT/CPT resources for international students.

- Partner with undergraduate student organizations, employers, recruiters, alumni, and industry stakeholders to enhance career development experiences and create opportunities for recruitment, networking, career treks, career fairs, job shadows, and employer engagement.

- Track and support internship and full-time employment outcomes; conduct research on job and internship opportunities; and utilize career technologies including Salesforce, Handshake, OfferView, 12Twenty and V-Mock to support student engagement, career planning, and reporting.

- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Career Development model through orientation programming, employment outcomes data collection, admissions and student engagement events, professional development, and collaboration across the School, College, and University.

What We Need

- Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 to years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Experience in working directly with college level students, and an ability to interface with alumnus and corporate recruiters from across the globe.

- Familiarity with business school education, and industries/functions including real estate, consulting, and finance.

- Ability to work well with others while creating a high-quality and respectful work environment is required. Demonstrated ability to monitor and deliver results and measure opportunities for program improvement.

- Experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, management, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team of professionals.

- Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team.

- Must be able to navigate and effectively use software systems, such as Handshake, Canvas, Qualtrics, 12 Twenty and Salesforce.

- Experience working with inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing programs.

- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

- Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends to support program goals. Must be willing to travel at least five times on an annual basis.

- Master’s degree in career counseling, student affairs, higher ed administration, business administration, real estate or related degrees.
- An advanced understanding of career choices for business majors, prior experience working with graduate and professional students and a proven track record of supporting student post-graduation outcomes.

The selected candidate will work fully onsite during the initial onboarding and training period, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement thereafter based on business needs and supervisor approval. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the specific schedule determined in collaboration with the supervisor.
