Job Summary
The Land Tech Supervisor leads the day-to-day work of the Land Tech team and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant execution of land administration activities. This role provides guidance, prioritization, and quality oversight for proposal letters, well setups, ownership calculations, contract and lease data, title and curative documentation, regulatory applications, invoice processing, and maintenance of land systems.
The Land Tech Supervisor applies advanced knowledge of land processes to resolve complex issues, supports Landmen and cross-functional stakeholders, and serves as a resource for escalations involving ownership, contracts, deadlines, documentation, and system data. The successful candidate develops team capability through coaching and mentoring, promotes consistent processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and helps ensure the Land Department delivers reliable information for operational and reporting needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, assign, and prioritize the daily work of Land Techs to meet departmental commitments, time-sensitive deadlines, and project requirements.
- Provide direction, coaching, training, and performance feedback to Land Technicians across experience levels; foster accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
- Review work for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with company policies, procedures, contracts, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, review, submit, and track proposal letters to partners for new wells, workovers, re-completions, pluggings, and other applicable activities.
- Oversee well setups and the calculation and validation of working interest and net revenue interest ownership, including complex ownership situations.
- Direct the entry, maintenance, and quality control of oil and gas contracts, leases, assignments, well records, ownership information, and related data in land systems.
- Oversee research and resolution of complex contract, lease, title, landowner, ownership, and curative matters; coordinate recommendations with Landmen and other appropriate stakeholders.
- Coordinate the preparation, review, monitoring, and timely filing of regulatory applications with internal and external parties.
- Monitor departmental workflows, queues, deadlines, and service levels; identify risks, remove obstacles, and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Review, code, route, and monitor land invoices and related documentation to support accurate and timely processing.
- Coordinate with Landmen, Accounting, Regulatory, Legal, Acquisitions and Divestitures, Operations, and other internal and external stakeholders to support project execution and effective communication.
- Provide accurate and timely land data and reporting support to stakeholders; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures, job aids, and process controls for Land Techn activities.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, data quality, system usage, and customer service within the Land Department.
- Support acquisitions, divestitures, audits, and other special projects by coordinating research, documentation, data validation, and deliverables.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource and escalation point for Land Technology questions and issues, including during the absence of the responsible Landman or manager..

Skills and Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of land administration processes, oil and gas contracts, leases, assignments, well records, ownership, title, and curative documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to calculate, analyze, and validate complex working interest and net revenue interest ownership for well setups.
- Strong understanding of regulatory applications, partner communications, and time-sensitive land workflows.
- Ability to lead, delegate, coach, mentor, and develop employees while maintaining high standards of accuracy and service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations.

- Proficiency with land systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, energy management, legal studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related land or oil and gas experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, training, or mentoring employees; formal supervisory experience preferred.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with oil and gas land administration systems and ownership databases.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, divestitures, regulatory matters, title and curative work, or related special projects.
- Experience developing procedures, improving workflows, and implementing quality-control practices.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
